Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

What will happen next?

I am pretty certain I am miscarrying.

I was about 7 weeks pregnant (I think - still breastfeeding my 9 month old so not certain about dates). I started spotting last night and was sent for a scan this morning. It showed a sac but no embryo but because I'm not sure of the dates they said this didn't really tell them much as they couldn't tell if just earlier than I thought or not progressing. Anyway they sent me home but with another scan booked for 2 weeks.

Since then I have started to bleed a lot more (like a heavy period but with clots). I know I am miscarrying but what I don't know is whether I need to go back to the hospital or not.

Do they need to do anything or will the pregnancy just sort of flush itself away? I really can't face another long wait at A & E (not easy with a little one) but don't want to risk future problems either.

Sorry, post is a bit rambling - not really with it.

Hi. I'm so sorry about your possible m/c. I've had 3, and it does sound like that is what's happening to you. I know it's awful to spend ages waiting at A&E, if I were you, I'd make an appointment with GP on monday and get a referral for a scan to check. IME, they need to either scan or take bloods to check pregnancy and make sure everything has cleared if is m/c, but unlikely there'll be any lasting damage for the sake of a few days.
Don't cause yourself any more upset than need be.
Goodluck

hi there, i've had two miscarriages and if i were you i certainly wouldn't bother going to hospital. they don't seem to do scans on a Saturday night (or any other time at the weekend); there's no cause for alarm with the bleeding from what you say (and because you're only at a relatively early stage of the PG);and really there is nothing they will or can do. I'm not a doctor, that's just speaking from my personal experience. Hugs.

Hello ready2pop so sorry for what is happening to you. It does sound like you are miscarrying now. I have been thru 3 mc's and as long as the blood loss and pain is controlable you shouldn't need to go back to a&e but give either the EPU or your GP a call on Mon morning so see if the mc is complete. Unfortunately it can take weeks to completely pass so this may linger on for a while. Don't worry too much about future problems in most cases nature does what it has to and if not then a scan will show if anything is remaining and possibly you would need a d&c.
I am working nightshift tonight so any other questions you have I will be here all night. Take care
