Could this be the end?

Hi all,
I was 11 weeks pregnant and started bleeding last Sunday. Scan on Monday am. confirmed MMC. Was not given any dates etc. for MMC but notes say measuring approx. 2cm.
Had bad cramps Mon night with clots and bright red bleeding. Tues am. ok but very bad contraction type pains and more small clots Tues pm. Since then the bleeding has reduced and the cramp has got to a point where I do not need to take pain killers. Its now Fri pm. Could this be the end or is there more to come? As far as I'm aware I have not passed anything other than livery dark red type clots. Any info or personal experineces much appriciated right now as I'm starting to feel anxious about what else might happen. Have a scan on Mon which will help but 3 more days to wait. I'm scared to leave the house just in case!
Thanks x

I had a mc on Sunday too; started with spotting then bright red flooding few hours later. Pain eased off after some clots had passed, twinges till Tuesday, now just a bit of a dull ache. Still bleeding, but not nearly as much, so think that's it.
Mine was v early (4.5 weeks) tho.
Hope you're ok.

Hi

I had an mc on Sept 11th at 11 weeks, so a similar experience I guess

It sounds like you may have more to come - a horrible thought but it really depends on the size of the foetus - whether it died at 11 weeks or before. 2 inches sounds like 10 - 11 weeks according to a google search.

My experience - if you want to compare:

Monday night - red blood on wiping
Tuesday am - one small clot, some red / black / brown blood on wiping throughout the morning.
Tuesday PM - massive gush (waters ?) soaked pad with watery blood. Immediately after that, I was losing loads of blood and clots really really fast - probably for around 2 - 3 hours. I remember at least 4 particularly large ones I couldn't walk without it gushing out. I was examined and told most of what needed to go had gone - with hindsight, I don't think that was true.

Heavy bleeding overnight and I woke up a couple of times to change pads, but it did tail off the next day till the evening. I spent the day on the sofa, so not much movement to encourage anything to come out - lots of back and adbominal pain and bloating, contractions and passed lots of large clots. Pain intensified (needed ibuprofen), then I got the urge to push and passed something that I guess was the sack.

I was scanned the next day and told there was only the tiniest bit of lining left

After that, bleeding tailed off to almost nothing, then one more smallish clot after 24 hours. 1.5 weeks later, I just see a little when I wipe and can go hours without seeing anything. I haven't needed a pad for around 5 days.

I hope that helps a little. We are all different though. Perhaps it would help to walk round a bit (in or near the house) ? I can understand your fear - I'm already terrified at the thought of this happening again and being at work.

If you do go out, just be prepared with heavy duty pads, big knickers and a change of clothes - just in case.

I hope it goes as well as it can and come back in here to ask anything you want

Yes, my blood pressure crashed and I was really dizzy and faint - was sent home from A&E but told to drink lots - hot, sugary drinks aswell because of the shock.

I was also told to stay in bed / on the sofa for at least 48 hours to slow up the blood loss

Hi there, sorry for what your going through right now and i dont know the answer to your question, hopefully it is the end for you, sending you a gentle hug. I had a mmc at 9weeks and opted for the medical management, took the tablet in the morning then by evening had lots of clots then then sac passed through, felt very dizzy/odd so went to hospital and they kept me in, had a drip as was dehydrated and in lot of pain, then home next day. Ensure you drink plenty, really important even if you dont feel like it.Curl up on the sofa with a movie. Sorry for all your mc's ladies. Takecare.XXX.

Sorry to hear this
My bleeding was stop start for 7 days then a day of pain and bleeding
Then bleeding that wouldn't stop - hopefully you won't have that.
I'd recommend resting at home just in case

thanks so much for your responses. I have never posted anything like this before but was touched by your messages of support.
This evening after 2 hours of cramping pains I passed the sac and immediately felt much better. It was quite a shock but hopefully now I can move on and get over this awfull time. Lots of Love

Hello. This is my experience, it is not what anyone would want to hear, but it is honest and thankfully unique:

3 years ago I had my first pregnancy and found out due to a scan following a slight bleed at 8 weeks that I had a MMC. I was told to go home and wait for it to happen physically. I opted to manage it myself... it was right for me at the time but wouldn't advise anyone one way or the other (D&C). At 10 weeks I had my first big bleed. I was in the bathroom for 8 hours, with just a very brief break for lunch. I went to bed, felt very faint and after a phone call was admitted to hospital just overnight. I maintained that I would manage the MC myself. I didn't have a day without bleeding for 3 months! It would subside but then come back.

I went to the hospital weekly or fortnightly through that time and it always looked like (through scans) it would not be long until the end and they checked that there wasn't an infection. Eventually enough was enough and I opted for a D&C but by then (ended up being the day before it finished) there wasn't enough "retained product" to make a D&C possible. A day later it finished. I am not sure that size of foetus or number of weeks makes a huge difference to how long it takes to manage a MC. There is no formula. I know people for whom they barely noticed physically, like literature says "is just like a heavy period", and then there is me or people who have a MC much later in pregnancy. One thing I know though, regardless of how it is managed, it is a hugely emotional and terrible thing to go through and a bereavement.

It is different for everyone, medically and emotionally.

Just make sure you have and get the support you need, medically and emotionally and make decisions that feel right for you at this time. I went out and about to friends who knew and cared with disposable changing mats in my bag, just in case. It was not nice. But since then I have had a baby girl who, with time, has put the MC time into a different perspective. The experience and sense of loss will always be a part of me, but I got through it, and you will too.

My sincere heart-felt thoughts and well wishes to you at this time, but I think the scan on Monday will make things clearer and be the only thing that can set your mind at rest. I hope me sharing my experience with you has not made you panic or worse. I do not know anyone else who shares my experience in length of time, and the hospital said I had a record for the longest time. I hope for you that the bleeding is finished and the healing is starting. x
