Hi all... I am 6 weeks 3-4 days. I started brown spotting on Monday after a bowel movement, and only in the morning. Today it turned into red and like a period, I also have cramps and low back ache (like a do during my time of the month) which went after one paracetomol I am seeing the doctor at 4 but hold no breath... I am beyond scared of this... I don't think I can cope!!!

It's absolutely awful, sad and unfair, but I promise you can cope. I've been there several times and it is really scary and upsetting. There are reasons people bleed that are not miscarriages, so I will keep my fingers crossed for your appointment, but please know that even if it's the worst news, you will survive this and be ok again. It takes time.

It is terribly unfair but unfortunately there isn't anything that can be done apart from wait. Dr may send you for an early scan to try and see what's happening

Obviously this can go 2 ways, but I've had these symptoms turn into a miscarriage, and also into a healthy baby so fingers crossed for you that it's the latter Thanks

They called me just before one... Won't scan me until I am 7 weeks so have an appointment Monday afternoon. The bleeding seems to have slowed somewhat but is still there... The nurse stated it could go either way... But I am not feeling all that positive... Especially as I am having on off cramps sometimes very painful :(

Oh I'm so sorry you have to wait over the weekend. Have been there too and it's horrible. Good luck for Monday x

And so just now I had the courage to test again... With one of those blue hcg testers (admittedly cheap). It's come up negative... And I think I'm ok with that... The knowing helps. My hubby and I got pregnant after 3 periods once I came off the pill... So I 'know' it may happen. It's sad... I'm sad. But at nearly 7 weeks I'm glad it's now not later. I may sound callous to some... But it helps me I suppose. Have EPU tomorrow who I guess will confirm this... And will hopefully give some clue to what to expect miscarriage wise... As I am pretty scared of this part!! (Those I know with kids can tell me only about birth... Not about not getting that far:()

Thank you all for your support

X

I'm sorry that you have this worry.

My mc experience (at 8 weeks) was of two weeks of bleeding. I had painful cramps for the first couple of days then no more pain, just period-like bleeding that tailed off over the 2 weeks. The pain was manageable with OTC painkillers. Once a scan had confirmed it, I preferred to miscarry at home. I didn't want tablets to speed things up or an erpc, but this is a very personal decision.

Aside from the 2 painful days I felt well enough and chose to carry on working. The normality helped me. At the end of the bleed I felt physically and emotionally drained. Time helped with the emotional side. Iron and a good diet helped build me physically back up.

Sorry to hear you are going through this op

I don't have any personal experience of miscarriages but did have a large bleed with one of my babies he is now five years old

Hi,
The exact same happened to me at the beginning of this month, though at only 5 weeks. Will be thinking of you this afternoon.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. Epu confirmed what I thought - I've miscarried. I looked complete so it's all pretty much over -so no added physical pain to look forward to. They said wait I period to try again -right now don't really want to. However hubby acting very remote - won't talk to me about it etc.

I'm so sorry. It's such a shitty thing to happen. How are you feeling now?

Actually feeling okay about it. I've had closure. I haven't really 'felt' pregnant for a week oand two as well. Husband has taken it worse I think. But at the end of the day there must have been something wrong with it and statistically we're in a good place to try again when he's ready. Feel callous saying this - I am lucky its affecting me this way!

so sorry for your loss op.

i have had, in the past, 11 miscarriages. mainly around the six~seven week mark. It is horrible and left me an emotional wreck but i also have four beautiful children who did make it and i'm now newly pregnant with number 5. i will never forget my lost babies, but it does get easier to cope with.

give your body the one cycle break your drs are advicing and then maybe try again. Thanks for you

I'm so sorry for your loss and am thinking of you and your DH. We have found the Mariposa Trust and their Saying Goodbye services helpful. Remember that everything you both feel, be it relief, despair, numbness, wanting to try again, not being ready to try again, anger, sadness and all the other emotions are totally normal reactions. My DH and I reacted quite differently but tried to keep talking (not always easy) and in the end it brought us closer.

All the best for your recovery and good luck for the future.
