Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

6 week miscarriage - is this normal?

Hi All,

Just looking for some advice/experiences please

Miscarriage confirmed by scan on Thursday and was booked in for medical management tomorrow. However, started bleeding yesterday and think have probably passed everything. Lots of large palm sized clots yesterday and bleeding and much smaller (20p) sized clots today

Emotionally - I think I'm doing okay as unfortunately have known m/c was a possibility since 5th June (been having weekly scans) but physically, I feel really drained, exhausted and run down

Just wondering if this is normal?

Thanks so much

Hi greenolive I miscarried last week naturally at 11 weeks. I too have felt physically exhausted and drained. I am a fairly active person and at the moment I'm out of breath climbing stairs or on a walk with any sort of incline. I usually run and cycle a fair bit. I'm not sure if is is normal as have not asked others but I definetly feel similar to you.

Thanks foxtrot - sorry for your loss.

You never read about exhaustion afterwards but hopefully this will pass after some rest :)

Sorry you're both going through this. I've felt absolutely wiped out for a couple of weeks after each of my miscarriages. Take it easy and be kind to yourselves.

Sorry for your losses, ladies. Thanks
Unfortunately I've had three NMCs. What you describe is similar to mine, Greenolive. Why not call in tomorrow and ask. They may want to scan you to see if there is anything left. This has happened to me twice and the third time I felt confident that I didn't need to see EPAC. I think they thought I wanted reassurance the first couple of times.

Hi greenolive and sorry for your bad news.

I had a miscarriage almost a month ago and have been bleeding up until now. Quite frankly I feel f*ed! I'm usually strong and healthy but I feel so weak right now. I think something that has exacerbated the situation is the fact that I stopped taking my pregnancy vitamins when it happened. Quite understandable as I couldn't look at the box I was so traumatised. However I do think that this, with the bleeding has left me anaemic. Since yesterday I have started taking a sachet of Spatone liquid iron water (you can get it in Boots) twice daily and I already feel a bit better. I'm also going to start taking the folic acid/iron tablets again.

I hope this helps and I hope you feel better soon.

Hey chick - I miscarried last week at 6 weeks and still feel very tired and drained. I think it's because of the hcg levels still being there. Hopefully won't last too much longer for us both. So sorry that you went through it because I know how awful it is x

Thanks All - good to know that I'm not alone

Yes think I'm probably anaemic, after losing so much blood. haemoglobin normally runs quite low anyway

Taking multi-vits and going to take a few days off work to just rest and potter

Thanks everyone and hope you all feel better soon x
