2 early mc

Hello there

this is my first time on this board and I am taken aback by some of the stories and the emotion. I know I am lucky to have two DCs, fit and healthy :-)

I am here because I have experienced two mcs, in the last few months, ttc no 3. I haven't experienced this before, but have also been lucky that they have both been extremely early, both before 5 weeks.

But I was wondering, as I hadn't experienced this before, do you think this means that there is something wrong with me that wasn't wrong with me before? ( I have re-read that and know it sounds stupid but that is what i want to ask). Or is it because I am a bit older than before? Or just one of those things?

The MCs were so early that I haven't been to the doctor on either occassion as well so feel like a bit of an island...

Hi hawk sorry to hear about your miscarriages, even if they are early, as soon as you know you have conceived all your hopes and expectations are raised. I think when you have children already you have experience of that BFP turning into a little person,you expect it to again, and it is a shock when things go wrong.
Miscarriage is unfortunately very common which is why they wont investigate until you have had three consecutive miscarriages as it can just be "bad luck". It might be worth going to your GP, hopefully you wont have another, but if you do it would be good to have the first two recorded.
You don't say how old you are,the risk of MC certainly increases with age.
I'm 44, have three DC and had a MC at 11 weeks last March, tried again, miscarried at 6 weeks in June, tried again and miscarried at 12 weeks in Sept,though we found out at 10 wks the baby had died at 8w9d.
I've been told that at my age the risk of miscarriage is 50% with each pregnancy but I could try taking aspirin to try and prevent it happening again if I conceive.
I wish I'd been given that advice after my second loss as with the third we had seen a heartbeat and baby was growing, it's a lot more unusual to miscarry after this point.
Because of my age and having three DC already I've been told I can't have any investigation into the recurring miscarriage. The fact that we had three normal pregnancies and healthy DC makes a lot of the genetic problems thay test for less likely.

Thanks for your reply Irishmammy, yes, I was taken aback when it happened the first time tbh. I am 34, so hopefully I will get a sticky bfp soon. I am really sorry for your losses, I can't imagine what it would be like mc at 12 weeks. I hadn't heard of taking aspirin either.
