Hello, Ive recently started the perimenupause, as I understand its called as I have not gone 12 months without a period, been taking hrt elleste duet for two weeks, feeling sick daily, and my asthma seems to have got worst unless its my imagination, also felt shaky and all in all not really that happy taking, it my main reason for trying it is Ive had anxiety, panic attacks, palpatations, terrible night sweats and flushes along with a few other funny symptoms too numerous to mention, the doctor has given me the above as an alternative to hrt as its meant to help the the night sweats/flushes and anxiety, but again reading up on that it does have some weird side effects, has anybody tried citalopram and if so good and bad reports on it please, oh to feel normal again!!! :(

Hmm..

You didn't really give HRT a fair chance.
Specialist gynaes will always say stick with it for 12 weeks to see if side effects settle down. It's quite normal to feel a bit worse to begin with and the sickness if similar to morning sickness due to the oestrogen- it may well go away, or you could try a different type such as a patch or gel- oral tablets are not actually the best or the safest.

Citalopram is an anti depressant which reduces flushes in some women but is usually given if a woman cannot take HRT for health reasons.

A good combination for HRT is an oestrogen only patch or gel, with a separate progestin for 10 days a month- Utrogestan is bioidentical the same as what you'd produce naturally.

My advice is go back to HRT but maybe change to a topical type and not pills.
