I,m 53 and used to walk 30 mins a day-just can't face it now
I lost 2 1/2 st on Slimming world- can't face it now
We used to go swimming with the children (I'm an older mum) every weekend, just can't face it now (hate my big tummy, cant get the enthusiasm, worried smoking will had an adverse on breathing)
Didn't smoke for 12 years, but I do now..

A few months ago, DH's long term mental health problem got much worse, but is sort of sorted now-medically, but he is very nervy (tried every medication in the world, but all have the same effect), seen every Dr and 2 privately, so that's a non starter), he works full time, but is a needy, panicky person in the evenings.

Anyone been in a similar position? where do you start? How do you give smoking when it's the only relief you get?

You sound like you're under a lot of stress auntie, I wonder can you get some support for yourself from your DHs MH team.
I'd make an appointment with a GP also to rule out low thyroid function with blood tests. Are you anaemic for eg?

I wish you the very best of health, and hope things pick up for you soon.
