Anyone fancy a meet-up luch time on Wednesday 25th Feb ?
If there are as many of us as last time maybe we should try and book somewhere.

whoops! god having mare of a day so far. went to pick ds up from nursery on friday and they said he had been hitting other kids, and i was so so upset and cried all friday eve. maybe cos i'm pregnant, it's just that he is so gentle with other children normally. maybe cos we had a disrupted week as we were having our floors sanded and varnished etc and all furniture in kitchen etc etc, don't know. then i found out this morning that i am not going to get any commisson for quarter 2 as i am leaving for maternity on april 16th, fair enough but all we are doing now is selling in to q2, i feel like i have done them a real favour by saying that i probably won't be going back after maternity, and can't be bothered to pull my finger out and bow to real pressure from my boss for q2 if i'm not even going to get any commission........it's not the money, it's the way i'm being treawted. so then i burst into tears and now i can't stop.

oh madgirl. Am not in work today or we could meet up and you could use my shoulder.

Am sure your ds will be fine. It was probably a one off and maybe he was being goaded by an other kid. As for work, i think that is really out of order for them to expect you to work for no commission. You should surely get something ? Can you speak to HR or something. Sounds to me like discrimination.

madgirl - it doesn't sound fair to me either. Surely you should get the commission pro rata ??

Dino - I had no idea Binkie was a lawyer. You both look far too approachable to be lawyers IMO !

Where are you thinking of having it?

Unfortunately I don't know much about employment law - I'd be a darn sight more use on this board if I did

Madgirl - it probably is pregnancy hormones making you weepy - but it does sound like you are being treated unfairly at work - maybe tomorrow or later in the week if you are feeling a bit better you could try and tackle your work about the commission issue? And don't worry about your DS - everyone is allowed to have an off-day, after all, and it doesn't sound from what you say as if there is a serious problem here (and I know about four year olds with behaviour problems, having one of those myself!).

I'm around this week if you want to meet up for a quick coffee - just post a message on here.

Madgirl - again not an employment lawyer but sounds not right. What does your employment contract say? Perhaps an email to your boss with a copy to Human Resources, they tend to be nervous about potential claims, might just clear the matter up.

binkie · 09/02/2004 15:57

Madgirl, certainly sounds like a fast one to me. When you started, or last returned from mat. leave, sorry don't know how long you've been in the job, presumably you didn't get any commission for work you yourself hadn't sold? In which case, of course you should get at least your pro rata - who else is it going to go to?!

And as far as I remember it (personal experience only, also am not employment specialist) employers are not allowed to discriminate on the basis that you are maybe thinking of not returning to work.

Little boys - could go on for ever, so won't start. Just that if this is a one-off for him he must be lovely!

Where is everyone ? I'm near Moorgate tube station and when I meet friends we tend to go to All Bar One on Moorgate ( opposite M&S )

Report
Kayleigh · 10/02/2004 20:00

I'm near Liverpool St station. Can walk to Moorgate in about 6 mins so that would be fine.
