are there any mumsnetters living in Battersea? Have recently moved to the area with a 3.5 year old dd but finding it hard to get to know other mums. Working full time doesn't help but i do have school holidays. Where are the places i can meet other mums (there just seems to be lots of nannies!)i feel quite isolated at the moment and would value any advice

(just posted this on the other thread too!) swanny - I'm in Battersea with a nearly three year old ds and 8 month dd, working part time. NCT is really good around here, but if you want to meet up that would be cool as most of my close friends don't have kids and my father was ill for a long time and I didnt really keep up with my antenatal group. I'll see if you've posted on the meet up board, or you can email me.

Ooh, this freaked me out a bit - I saw my name at the bottom and wondered whether it was someone trying to be me! Then I realised where it came from (I'd posted at 4:07 on the other thread!).

But I'm in the area (a bit further out in SW20) and I'm around in school holidays too. My son is quite a bit younger, though. Maybe we should organise a picnic in the park during the hols when the weather is a bit nicer?

Swanny, I'm also in Battersea and would be happy to meet up. My ds is nearly 6 months. If you want to meet mums with toddlers for your dd to play with try the One O'Clock clubs - there's one at the Adventure Playground in Battersea Park, plus another in the park at the end of Northcote Road (the Wandsworth end) and another in York Gardens. If you are near the Clapham Junction end of Battersea Park Road, or Falcon Road, you may be in the Sure Start area - loads of classes and groups, I can put you in touch with them. Must go and investigate the meet up board, wasn't aware of it until now!

Oops, just realised you'd said you worked F/T which rules out One O'Clock clubs (not sure they run in hols).

Sorry, just realised I've caused a confusion about the meet up board. This is the meet up board! I just copied my reply from the other thread and forgot to delete the last line. Whoops. Hope you haven't been on a wild goose chase swanny and evansmum. Anyway, I am on Battersea High St right opposite the Sure Start place - the new creche looks really cool and I keep meaning to pop in. Swanny, I work p/t so maybe we could set a meet-up for half-term or something. Is it the week of Feb 14th? Tuesday or Friday is good for me. When the weather is awful, I sometimes go to the Latchmere (leisure centre not pub, sadly) and let ds go on their indoor play area while I have a coffee.

I'm in Clapham too - I work part time - free monday's and fridays and would be keen to meet up.

Wilbur the play bit in Latchmere Leisure centre - what age range is it? I am looking for a soft play place to take my 8mth ds.

wilbur I live just off Battersea church rd/westbridge road so it's very near to you. I do get 2 days off work a month but the day is negotiable si it's difficult to make plans but i'll definately stay in touch. I don't know how to give e-mail addresses over mumsnet but if you would like let me know yours feel free.

Swanny, have a look at www.netmums.com I'm sure they have a site local to you. All the local info to do with families is on there, toddler groups, activities and so on. They also have a meet-a-mum section where you can meet other local mums who have similiar interests.

Lamin - 8 mos is probably a bit little for the Latchmere Playzone, although it is for little ones, and doesn't have big kids in it which is why it can be a godsend for a stir-crazy toddler. I think ds was about 10 mos when I first took him and he could crawl happily around it and I could go in and rescue if he got stuck. It has a ball pit as part of it which he loves. Also at the Latchmere they have Music and Movement sessions (I think, though, that these are only on Tues and Thurs, although they might do them Fri as well) which are basically soft play in the gym with a bouncy castle followed by a singing session. It's very sweet and I've taken dd a couple of times with ds and she loves it, even though she is only sitting and not even crawling. She just likes the bouncy castle and singing.

Anyway, shall we try and arrange a meet up one Friday afternoon sometime, lamin, bossykate and evansmum? If we choose a date and then swanny can see if she can make it too?

one o'clock club (if open), Latchmere play zone? Anywhere. I'm easy

What time does the one o'clock club close? You mean the one in Battersea Park, right? It's just that I always seem to find it closed when I get to the park in the afternoon - is it just open a short time? Or have I just been unlucky? Latchmere Playzone is open from 12.30 to 2.30 and then again from 3.30 to 6pm, so we could meet at 3.30pm if that suits the babies, or I am happier to meet earlier. BTW, is there anyway of changing the name of this thread so it shows that we are organising a meet up for Battersea?

one o'clock club open 1-4, but they start packing up about 3.30. about changing the thread - sounds like a good idea but i wouldn't know how to do it.
