Meet-ups

London / SE London/ Kent mumsnetters...

Here goes...

I am pretty shy and approaching anybody about meeting up normally fills me with dread (what if they don't like me ) and even feel a bit shy about responding to any of the existing threads - everybody seems to know everybody else.

Can anybody point me in the direction of a Kent/ SE London (Orpington) or London meet-up.

I have spent such a long time on mumsnet and would love to put names to faces.

Help???

Hi Twinkie,

thanks for replying - are there any meetups scheduled in the near future then?

Thanks again. unfortunately Saturday is bad for me as Xmas shopping is becoming critical.

I know what you mean about Disney - we took DS to Disneyland in the summer - God we spent sooooo much money.

Week days are also out for me as I am working full time.

Let's see who replies and maybe try to get together in the New Year when the Xmas rush is over.

BFN...

I'm definitely up for a weekend meet sometime in the New Year, Dejags - as Twinkie says, I'm just down the road from her in New Eltham and pretty close to Orpington. Like you, my weekends have gone pretty pear-shaped until 2004.
Not to hijack a thread, but, how is your sis doing Twinkie?

Used to live in Bromley. Both boys born at Farnborough before it was knocked down. One day I will visit my friends up in Bromley so can I join you then.....?

It's looking like quite a party (keep us posted when you are next up Jimjams!)
Now we need a nice venue in SE London/Kent... not so easy to track down. I can recommend the Acropolis in New Eltham, a convenient stagger from my own house/the station, but have always thought some of the places in Chislehurst look nice. Any ideas?

oh yes chislehurst is nice. Been to a lovely place on the left as you look down the hill- can I remember its name? of course not. Quite near the top car park.

I keep saying I must visit. BF is having her ds2 next year so maybe after he's born.

Used to live in Bromley too ... had dd1 at Farnborough before it was knocked down Jimjams! A few suggestions for somewhere to eat in Bromley ... Caligula (opposite Odeon cinema) is a FAB restaurant (mediterranean food). Also Mamas & Papas in Homesdale Road is a lovely Italian restaurant. Poppadum in Tylney Road (used to live opposite there - the BEST curries in Bromley!) None of above are particularly expensive but all serve great food! Live in Hampshire now so won't be able to join you ...

I have very fond memories of the old Caligula in Bromley, near to the old Habitat. My fave restaurant of all time. Definitely up for a meetup in teh new year!

Depending on how far into next year it is, I'd like to come too! A bit tied to home at the present Bfing DD (6 weeks), I'll be more than happy to chuck her at DH in a month or so though.

caligula is fantastic. Cheap lunches as well.

Sounds great - I will gladly go to any meetup in Bromley/Chislehurst/New Eltham...

DS was also born in Farnborough - was up there this morning with him - he has a disgusting chest infection.

I will resurrect this thread early in the new year so that we can make a definite arrangement.

Resurrecting this one - does anybody fancy getting together now that Xmas/New Year is out of the way.

Orpington/New Eltham/Sidcup/Bromley would be good for me

I live in Kent near Bluewater & would be game for a meet up if the dates are ok. I have close access to the A2 so most of the areas suggested should be fine. A while back Marina suggested a Bluewater meet-up to combine a bit of shopping with a little eating/drinking & chatting but it didn't really come to anything. So hopefully we'll get some other suggestions

Ok, Italian in Sidcup sounds good to me. Don't worry Twinkie - I have also given up smoking (now that I have had a +ive test - still can't stop grinning).

let's wait and see if a few others want to join in before we set a date

I saw you had some good news Dejags, many congratulations and good luck to you both on staying off the weed .
I like the sound of a lurid Italian in Sidcup and as I have just gone back to work I could do with a cheer-up too. Count me in and Happy New Year!

Following on from the saddest thread of the year - I have no friends... I am resurrecting this one...

So the lurid Italian in Sidcup it is! Any suggestions for a date?

Are we going for a Saturday morning coffee/lunchtime? If so I definitely cannot make 21st January but otherwise don't have much in the diary yet.
