What do you look for in a personal trainer?

Dear All,

I'm doing some research on the health & fitness needs of a variety of demographics, and it would be interesting to get some views.

Whether you're looking to get into exercise and fitness, or whether you've been at it for a while, what do you look for in a personal trainer?

What qualities or characteristics would make you want to work with a PT? Does appearance / body image of the PT help sway your decision? For example, would you feel comfortable going on a fat loss programme with a PT who was a bit out-of-shape? Or would you be willing to overlook this if their qualifications and expertise were particularly impressive?

Or when looking for a PT, do you just want a person to be there with you and motivate you during your session? Someone to talk to and laugh with?

Any views appreciated.
