Researchers from The University of Manchester and Central Manchester Foundation Trust are running an exciting research project looking at how the brain makes sense of sounds. We are looking for babies with normal hearing to take part in the research. Babies need to be between 4 and 39 weeks old, been born full term, and have passed their newborn hearing screen.

Participants will need to come to one test session at The Wellcome Trust building on Grafton Street in Manchester. The session lasts for 60-90 minutes. Different sounds will be played and the activity of your baby's brain will be measured by sensors placed on their head. The research will be used to develop new tests to help babies who have a hearing impairment.

All participants will receive £20 in cash towards their travel expenses and a £5 voucher as a thank you for taking part. There is free parking next to the test centre.

If you think you would like to take part, or would like more information, then please e-mail the researcher at or telephone 07543 228 856.

The study has NHS ethical approval (Ref: 10/H1011/26)
