Low-carb diets

Kick start

So DS is away for 10 days so the only persons food I need to take care of is my own. Low carbing is something I have toyed with before, but sometimes it is just too much work to make different things, plus carbs are so easy to grab when you feel hungry and need something quick.
My question is will I be able to retrain myself in 10 days? I only have myself to cater for so it should be doable? Words of advice and/or encouragement gratefully received.

Yes. Ten days strict LCing and you'll be in ketosis and seeing weightloss to spur you on. Go for it!

Definitely worth making a start, but you do realise it is easy to fit a low carb diet into your family's way of eating just by slightly adjusting what you put on your plate versus the rest of the family's.

For example, of you cook a roast for the family just have extra greens instead of spuds and Yorkshire. If you cook pasta sauce, serve yours with courgette ribbons instead of pasta. Have your curry with cauliflower rice instead of basmati; have your burger between two lettuce leaves instead of a bun....and so on.

Loads of ideas on the recipe threads.

I did great for the first 4.5 days then it fell apart on Friday as I went out with work for a few drinks and yesterday was a carb festHmm
Will start again today/tomorrow, as I still have a few days just cooking for myself.
I do get that I can low carb whilst feeding a family but it is easier on myself if I don't have to prep other things that are not going on my plate. Case in point yesterday as it was so much easier to have the pasta dp and his son were having than fix myself something else (especially as I had already ruined the low carbing with alcohol the night before and was feeling a little ropey)

No one has ever found making a big change easy. You need to be t I tally committed and ready. You will find the right time for you. But it needs at least a few days of total commitment right from the start.

I buy bags of salad to replace carbs at dinner. No thought required. In the winter I have pre-prepared cabbage and leek which I stirfry with butter.

Dipping in and out of LC makes it much harder as you have to go through the induction phase again.
