Net carbs? Am confused!

I track on MFP where I try and keep my carbs at a certain level which is working for me. However I've read that you should deduct fibre from carbs which gives you net carbs as the correct intake to monitor? Am very confused so any advise on what is right would be great! Smile

Yes deduct the fibre grams from the carb grams to give you the net carbs and count them. So hummous has about 6g carbs but 5g fibre so 1g net carb pet serving. Hope that helps and good luck. X

I have never bothered taking fibre away - i just go with the total carbs reading.I feel it is better to be safe than sorry.

Nutritional labels are not really consistent. American ones always mention net carbs.
