Hi :)

I had a lot of success with low carb pre baby so after having a stone to lose to get back to pre-pregnancy weight (and from there having to lose another 3 to be healthy!) I naturally went back to low carb.
Have been doing it now for nearly 4 months and have not eaten more than 30g carbs a day. I know going under 20g may give me a boost but with a toddler I find it so hard. I would have expected slower weight loss second time round and with slightly more carbs but in 4 months I have lost 5 pounds.
That's nothing for a low carb diet done properly.

I fear my body is now so used to no/low carbs it would take a huge amount to lose. I am still so overweight though !

Does anyone have any ideas ?? It's really getting me so down ! Xx

Are you drinking lots of water? Are you eating dairy (other than butter)?

If I don't drink water and I eat lots of greek yog and cream the scales don't shift.

Well can you try a couple of days without cheese and yogurt to see what happens? I try to limit dairy until I can't bear it any longer then I allow myself a week or three eating it before I cut it out again!

To jazz up dairy free life I drink bullet proof coffees and put garlic butter on my veg. Lots of mayo too.

Ok, those are good ideas. Hopefully the mayo might make me feel better about no cheese ! Thanks :)

Hi Bluebelle I've had a similar experience in that I lost weight well on low carb. I wandered off track to try the 5:2 diet which didn't suit my health issues and restarted low carb on the Diet Doctor LCHF plan. My health improved but my weight has remained stuck. On the advice of the nice folks on here I have come to realise that the main difference between the time when I was losing and now is that I introduced Greek yoghurt and increased my consumption of cream. The plan I did previously only allowed yoghurt if you were almost at target. Anyway, I have decided to cut out all dairy except butter and see what happens. Its not proving as bad as I expected so give it a shot and see where it gets you.

Thanks Miffy, sorry only just saw this !

I will try that and see what happens. It will be good practice for my self control if anything !

The only issue with cutting out dairy is the lower fat content. So do your best to add fat back in wherever you can. I recently discovered almond milk which is a great milk substitute. Bit I add cream to it to up the fat. You might want to use more olive oil butter or avocado.

I would track your macros on My Fitness Pal or similar. A lot of people need to keep to 5-10% carbs, 20-25% protein, 70-75% fat for effective weight loss. There is also the possibility that your calorie intake is too high, some people fall into the trap of too many BPCs or nuts.
