By way of background, I am 45, 5'9" and have weighed about 10 stone 12 for the last ten years. Healthy BMI, not overweight but not really as slim as I would have liked either. Thighs touched and size 10 jeans just too tight.
I have recently started reading lots about low carbing. I've never really thought about food in terms of grams of carbs before but for the last week or so have totally avoided bread, pasta, potato, noodles etc.
I found a recipe on the internet for low carb 'bread' which is essentially ground flax (linseed) and ground almonds baked with eggs, water, salt and a little baking powder. Less than 7g carbs for the entire loaf!!! By way of comparison, two shredded wheat with skimmed milk = 37g carbs.
So, for the last week, for breakfast I've had two slices of my 'bread' with butter and marmite, an omelette with lots of veg for lunch, a big stir fry with chicken or prawns for supper, and full fat Greek yogurt with raspberries and blueberries for pudding. Plus 2 litres of water a day.
This morning I weigh 10st 6. This is miraculous to me. I haven't been remotely hungry or felt at all deprived. The flax bread is incredibly easy to make, all the ingredients are in sainsburys and it's actually really dense and filling and health benefits of flax are seemingly amazing when you read up on it.
Can any experienced low carbers comment? Is it really this easy to lose weight? I'm amazed
