I'm not a vegetarian but I eat very little meat! I was wondering if many of you have successfully lost weight without eating meat and doing low carb?

If so all ideas and advice are welcome Grin

I need to loose nearly 2stone

Hi positively9something, I'm vegetarian but I need to loose probably a stone which I've somehow managed to put on in the past year. I don't have many ideas yet sorry, but I'm gonna watch this thread and see what tips everyone can come up with!

I just googled it and found this, if yous scroll down past all of the confusing stuff, they have a few ideas.

Depends how foodie you are? Celia brooks brown wrote a great low carb veggie book, interesting recipes, a bit too complicated for some, Rose Elliot has also written one, which some find useful and I hated with a passion, awfully dull - to some others beautifully simple [Grin] ottelenghi also has some good recipes.

I don't eat meat (do eat fish) and have lost a stone and a half low carbing.

I do quite a lot of exercise so supplement with protein shakes - which I wouldn't do if I ate meat. But I find them really useful.

I eat lots of eggs, pulses - especially chickpeas and black beans - and fish a couple of times a week. Some tofu - drained, pressed and marinated. Plus loads of veg/salad, greek yoghurt and berries - and nuts, flaked almonds with yoghurt and fruit or low carb berry crumble. And a bit of cheese - I try not to rely too much on cheese to add interest/flavour though.

I have the Rose Elliott book and found it gave me some good ideas though the recipes are mostly a bit dull. Most recently I bought the Itsu cookbook which is great (if you leave the rice out, of course).
