Oh my goodness, day 8 of Atkins Induction (sticking under 13g carbs a day) and oh WOW. Definitely lost weight (though haven't weighed self at start as will be put off so easily !), am SO energised, sleeping amazingly, feel brilliant.

Can't believe how it works!! Why have I waited so long to do it? The only low point was second day, really, when felt dreadful (but then I think ketosis kicked in!)

Anyone else on Induction at the mo and wants to buddy?

Yes, me! I'm on day 4. My worst day was yesterday and now I feel better. I've lost loads of water retention. My tummy is much thinner. But I feel my skin looks a lot better as well. I've spent my whole life on a low fat diet and I just felt tired all the time so decided it's time to try something new.

Hi Joules. I bought the older version of the book. I've read nearly all of it.

lottieandmia - oh well done! shall we post here for moral support?

Joules68, that is AMAZING, how long did it take and did you keep it off?

Lottieandmia, my tummy is getting thinner and flatter by the day (hurrah)..don't have huge amount to lose (maybe 1, 1 and a half stone or so) but same as you - tired of feeling tired and this way of eating is amazing for my energy levels. and sleep SOOOOOOOOO well.

what have you eaten today?: I had:

scrambled eggs with little bit avocado
massive lunch...cod baked with butter, cauliflower cheese (low carb version), couple of tiny carrot strips, few brussels sprouts
some cheese and bit of celery in the evening as stuffed full

couple of decaff coffees with cream
tons of water
multi vits

no exercise other than running round after kids. kettlebells first thing tomorrow...

My typical day seems to include

Omelette with ham and cheese
Tuna salad with Mayo
Salmon or chicken or other meat with veg, cooked in butter

I've also tried decaf coffee with cream yesterday and I thought that was nice. I've been drinking absolutely loads of water because I've felt so thirsty and I think it has helped my skin.

I don't have lots of weight to lose either but felt so tired and drained all the time before I started this. I already feel much more energised and it has done me no harm to give up wine.

I'm glad someone else is doing this as well as me! I have not weighed myself but my clothes feel looser.

Hi, I've started the new Atkins today, it does seem improved - all the salad and vegetables you have to eat, and not huge plates of protein. I think it's going to work - I've normally got the world's slowest metabolism, so did a vlcd to kick start and encourage! 9lbs down and looser clothing! Sue

I am finding I feel very thirsty today, in spite of drinking loads of water. Also I just don't want any dinner. I'm just not hungry. Should I definitely eat something or does it not matter?

if you feel unwell and are very thirsty you should do a glucose test (many chemists do them).
just in case.
