Hi all

Just wondering when the next bootcamp is starting. I'm hoping its Jan. I really need a kick up the (rather flabby) bottom. X

I just came on to post the same thing. I've never low carbed with any conviction in the past but I am desperate and keen to give it my all. Looking at the other boot camp threads, I'm hoping that's just the thing to give me a much needed kick up the arse.

Please can I join?

Convinced that low carb is the only way to go - as I have terrible sugar cravings and only way I've ever lost weight is cutting out "white" foods.

I'm 5 foot and 10 stone 3 oh god

Anyone else teeny?

Evening all!

I'm thinking of the next one starting on 13 January.

But I'm thinking of having a 'soft' start to the next one - a gradual start, so that the carb flu effects are minimised. This would mean a week of cutting down, rather than rushing head-long into Bootcamp

What do you reckon?

How many times have you done it so far, BIWI? How would it work best? I think it would be an experiment but I wonder if cutting down is feasable especially if you don't lose weight in that first week or even put some on. Just thinking aloud. OTOH gives time to finish all the Xmas carbs. I'm definitely in for the next one, whichever way it starts.

I am in but will do full on boot camp as I can lose 7 or 8 lbs in a week! SmileSmile

I will be starting on the 7th (small people back at school & thus less likely to incur my wrath when I haven't have several lattes to 'get me through'). It wont be pretty but I can't afford to wait a minute more, but I'll need every bit of the 10/11/444 weeks the next one lasts as well Xmas Grin Xmas Blush

Rup you are a tart Xmas Grin I have never managed that Xmas Sad mind you the rate I'm currently gaining it, you never know

Yep! A cheese carb tart! All reduced at Waitrose though Chipping!,

Got a lush £12 piece of pork for a couple of quid yesterday!

And free asparagus and free mushrooms!! SmileSmileSmile

BIWI - personally I think the 'hit it hard' approach works better as it gets your system burning fat quickly and shows results. I think coasting into it means you don't lose weight (as you are still eating carbs) even though you have already started feeling deprived (after naughty christmas food and cutting down on carbs) - also, surely, the benefits of LC are being able to eat the traditionally 'naughty' stuff (cream/cheese/pork scratchings

I was thinking about a 'soft' start for two reasons:

  1. If we go steaming straight in on 6 Jan there is still likely to be lots of tempting Christmas food/drink in the house, whereas this would give us a week to plan/prepare and get rid of it all.

  1. For all those who haven't done it before, it should help to minimise the carb flu effects.

I know, for myself, that I will be raring to get back into it by the first week back, especially as I'm back at work by then, but wondered if it would be worth considering. Nothing to stop people having the first week as a 'hard' one I suppose!

My other reason for starting 'officially' on 13 Jan is to give me and Willy time to organise ourselves, and to give people enough notice that it's starting - I expect a lot of people will be away and not on MN as much as they might be normally.

Hi!

I just wanted to say please can i join?

It will be my first time LC after almost a year of not very successful 5:2 ing - I think 5:2 just gave me more sugar cravings and my eating was all over the place. Ketosis on 5:2 made me feel dire and I think this was a salt/ non-adaptation issue.

TBH I was going to get going as soon as the Christmas food is out of the way even if it was before bootcamp - use the motivation and momentum!

I need to be bootcamping by 6 January as all banned food will be gone, kids back at school and I will be raring to go!

Any chance of 6 Jan? SmileSmile

BIWI You do what you think is best, you are the one (& Willy of course) who puts all of the time and effort into it!! and I know how much time and effort you do put in...I just swan in and out as the mood takes me Xmas Grin oops

I need to start on the 7th as I can't really put my blood tests off much after the 7th of Feb and I want a month of 'being uber good' under my belt before thenBlush - also I might weigh the equivalent of a baby hippo if I don't sort myself out by the 7th, but as I low carb all the time & will need to do it pretty much permanently, my life is one big Bootcamp - the 'official' one just gives me some company :)

I'm not doing the 6th as it's an inset day & we're likely to go out for lunch etc - so the 7th it is for me.

My carb dependency / addiction is quite ridiculous Xmas Blush. However I think I will need to ease myself into it and my birthday is on 7th Jan

Of course you can join!

There's no way I'll be ready to start another official Bootcamp by 6 Jan, I'm afraid. But why don't we gather together for our own start. I could do with a week's strict low carbing before I'm prepared to get on to the scales for an official weigh-in Blush

I'd personally go straight in - you could offer a softer start if you thought best but I know for me personally I'd be rubbish as even small amounts of carb stuffs set off my carb cravings and 'fuck it' feelings. If you mean softer start allowing diet drinks, sugar free jelly and more veggies I could do that, but not much more... Of course I can't so it anyway until may/June but cannot wait!!!

BIWI · 24/12/2013 10:27

OK. No soft start for Bootcamp then!

I'm in! I really want to lose a stone so I can get back into my old clothes and finally change my username Grin

Anyone know how long it might take me? I'm 5' 4.5" and want to go from 9st to 8st (small boned pear). Likely to manage 2-3 hours of exercise/week.

DorrisM · 24/12/2013 11:10

I can't wait. We've been eating rubbish for weeks and drinking again. The last time I low carbed was in the summer and I miss feeling slim and energetic.
