Low-carb diets

Low Carb at Christmas?

Thehappinessproject · 09/12/2013 08:49

Have just started LCing and have lost 9lb (yey) but now panicking about Christmas. I would love any tips about how to stay as low carb as possible when visiting friends for dinner.
Also, when I eat some carbs will I puff up like a Cheesy Wotsit?

The cheesy wotsit made me laugh:)

You could call and explain you won't be drinking wine, eating roast potatoes or having Christmas pud.

Or if they are likely to be upset as its just one day and think you are faddy, just don't say anything and claim you are full, don't drink, and can't manage a pud as too full of delicious dinner. Take cheese for a spare pudding with celery.

Or just go, eat carbs sparingly and have a vlc day Boxing Day. That's what I would do:)

The lc bootcamp with BIWI starts jan, will you be on the thread? I'm going to join up again:)

Hah it doesn't take much to blow up, poof. Like a blowfish.

Avoid the potatoes and the pudding if you can.

Don't forget you actually need carbohydrates to burn fat. 'Low-carb' diets really mean low 'simple' or processed carbs, but you must still eat carbs (preferably healthy or complex carbohydrates) each day to sustain weight loss. My advice over Christmas - eat in moderation and don't worry too much.

I find no one is that interested in what I eat when you're round a table and loads of people are eating. I don't drink anyway so that would never be pointed out. I would just have the meat and veg and given the chidlren would normally be fighting for every last roast potato etc they would be grateful you aren't eating carbs if they notice at all. I cannot have some sweets/ chocolate pudding as I am a sugar addict just like with drugs or drink. I have to have total abstinence and then I don't even want it. However not everyone is the same.

Great tips, thank you. I agree I don't think many people will be looking at what I'm eating!

Lavenderhoney see you in the bootcamp thread - hopefully not too puffyXmas Smile
