Can I have 1 "fuck it all" day a week or does it not work like that? It's Saturday, it's xfactor it's my one night with wine and chocolate, but it's not just that it's the upcoming Xmas do's, got one most weeks now, I started Monday - was in ketosis by weds and lost 4pds. If I have a wine tonight with some chocolate will it take me another 2 days to reach ketosis?

Plus 2 days wouldn't be so bad means I'm fat burning by Monday and have 5 1/2 days of fat burning?

BIWI has said before that cheating in the early stages is the problem - it's unforgiving as you can undo days of previous work by cheating just a little.

If you're in bootcamp, ie the first 2 weeks, then it seems to be v important not to cheat as this is the kick start.

Once you've been low carbing for longer, you can have the odd day off without doing much damage.

I'm just repeating what I've read on previous threads from BIWI and Willie ( I too was very interested in the idea of cheating!) but the advice has been quite consistent - treat not cheat.

Is there something low carb you really like like nice Brie or something that would fill the need? Or 85per cent dark chocolate with peanut butter any good?

I have been putting green and blacks cocoa powder in full fat yoghurt, very rich and chocolate lay.

Also if you look at the rules for Bootcamp there is advice for alcohol - says no alcohol, but keep it to weekends if you really must so you might be ok there Wink

It gives different drinks which will be better than others, assuming your Christmas parties give a choice.

Think is may need to start takin. This seriously after Xmas in that case, I mean next Friday we are going to Christmas markets mulled wine and strudel... How can I not? I mean it Xmas and it's one night off, then Xmas party from work week after then DP there's wine on table and a roast dinner, I can resist pudding easy but it's just in everything isn't it... Well and then it's XMAS! Might just have to have the odd cheat day for the next few weeks n do it with full gusto in Jan...

The problem I have with having a carby day is that I'm extra hungry and craving carbs for the next couple of days. I had a planned cheat on Friday (a slice of DS3's birthday cake) and I ended up eating loads more over the weekend. I'm still a pound heavier than I was on Friday morning. And that was just one slice of cake so at a guess 100g of extra carbs. If I had eaten pasta and toast as well that day I think the carb cravings might have been enough to push me off the wagon.

I have been LCing for five months now and I do find that my tastes have changed. I was in Costa the other day, looking at the food to see whether there was anything I could eat and all I could see was carbs carbs carbs. Whereas when I started this WOE I would have been annoyed that I wasn't 'allowed' a cake iyswim.

There is nothing in Costa but half a small bar of dark chocolate.

I think there's a reason that the latest bootcamp finishes around now OP Grin

To be totally honest, AnyFuckerWillDo, it depends entirely on your own body, as we all deal with carbs differently - some people can tolerate more than others.

Throughout the 10-11 months that I lost my weight (2 stones) I never stopped drinking wine at the weekend. I also had time off when I was on holiday and had the odd cheat here and there.

But I was also prepared to take time to lose the weight.

If you want to shed weight quickly then cheating regularly will not help you. Each time you up the carbs you will risk laying down more fat.

And it sounds like you have a challenging few weeks coming up Grin

There is a reason why Bootcamp finishes when it does, and there's also a reason why there's probably going to be another one in the New Year!!!

Thanks BIWI, last time I did low carb I always had weekends "off" and it worked fine. I was a little ignorant to the science of it all back then though. I am back in ketosis this morning, I can feel it but only got till Friday then at Christmas markets...

Might just had to wait till Jan and start bootcamp properly...

Can I ask you about the ketosis state and how it's making me feel? Basically waking up sickly, nauseous, weak and very hot and dizzy. All in all very ill, last Friday thought i'd collapse when I first got up. However within an hour of waking, drinking coffee and being up and about it's gone till next morning. I've checked on sticks and I'm in ketosis before and after... Any ideas will this be a permanent thing?
