Hi
My Husband and Mother both have diabetes and we have proven that by reducing carbs they can keep their sugar levels at a good place. The weight is falling off of mum and we are now considering if we, me and her, are carb intolerant. So, the plan is for me to reduce/cut out carbs to see what happens. However i am thinking that there is not much for me left to eat except for meat and I do not eat eggs, fish or dairy products. Where does that leave me for meals, can you help with ideas please?

Thank you.

There are beans and pulses and fruit and veg....like a vegan. ...I'd look into vegan cooking. My DH is a vegan and he's very healthy but he has to be careful to eat loads of seeds and nuts and bright veg.

Pulses are too carby really.

While you would be a bit restricted, if you do eat meat you have a whole range of different varieties of cuts if meat and veggies you can use. You just need to make sure you're getting plenty of fat in. Most people who low carb use lots of butter, but if you don't eat it you can use coconut oil (good to cook with, not actually very coconut flavours), olive oil (dressings on salads), as well as fattier cuts of meat

So cottage pie with mashed cauliflower or swede as the topping, fried steak with salad, roast meat with lots of veg, pork or lamb chops with lots of herbs - lots of options. What sort of meals have you been eating up to now? Fried sliced courgettes or leeks can make a good substitute for pasta

Try Low carb Diabetic.

You'll also find loads of recipes from googling "Paleo Blogs" some recipes in Paleo contain small amounts of honey, maple syrup and sweet potato but most should be fine.

Best of luck!
