Low-carb diets

Wine when low-carbing

I have been reading the low carb threads for the last couple of weeks and am really keen and motivated to start doing this WOE.

I've read the ten rules on the bootcamp thread and feel I can keep to 9 of them! However the 'no drinking' one just won't fit with my lifestyle. My husband and I really enjoy our wine, it's a hobby as well as just a drink.

I know I need to 'enjoy' it a bit less often and already have 4 days a week when I don't drink at all. My next step is to have a bit less on the days I do drink.

My question is (sorry for taking so long to get to it!) how much wine can I get away with and still lose weight when low carbing?

Any advice gratefully received! I have lost 7 kilos so far this year (20kg more to go) by making healthier adjustments and also 5:2 fasting but low carbing just makes sense to me on so many levels. But if I can't include at least some wine then I know I won't be able to make it work long (or medium!) term.

I have no idea about bootcamping - it sounds like something you do very stricktly for a short time only? So maybe if that's your aim, follow their rules.

Anyway, of course you can drink wine when low carbing if you so wish. Just be aware that alcohol is very easy energy for the body and will mess with ketosis as well, if that's what you aim for. If you do drink wine, go dry.
