Low-carb bootcamp

will this help me loose weight, even if in ideal BMI?

I am right in the middle of ideal BMI, but am 2 stone heavier than before my last 2 children and am not happy this size. I did ubber boot camp for 3 days but had no energy so changed to regular boot camp. When I weighed myself after a WK I was upset to find I had actually gained 2lbs.

My dh says its because I am trying to make myself too thin. Is he right? I would really like to loose at least a stone.

it will, but it may take many weeks.
I would say only professional measurement of % of fat and how healthy you are can give you some insight into it.

when you said - you had no energy and changed to regular boot camp - what food did you add?

also - at ideal weight/BMI easier to use tape to see that body is changing
weight is not everything!

I added dairy, (a small amount of cheese and cream and using butter when cooking. Still feel low on energy but before adding dairy I could barely drag myself off the sofa, let alone go jogging.

Should I be weighing my protein, to make sure I'm not just eating too much?

you should try to aim for 70%:15%:15% - fat:carbs:protein
so yes, myfitnesspal & portion control is the way forward as you can then trace weight loss

in my experience it takes over 24-48 hours for eaten carbs to show as stalling weight

once you look at it this way it doesn't really matter where protein or carbs are coming from

if you want to exercise during low carbing that is going to be long slog, you just have to keep at it as your body is going to be fighting for you to go back to carbs

are you using sweeteners at all? they stall some
or even coffee

If you gave up after three days, you didn't give yourself a chance to stop burning carbs and start burning fat. You felt lack of energy because you were going through carb withdrawal! It's not called carb flu for nothing!

That said, it concerns me that you talk about wanting to be so much thinner - if you're in the middle of the BMI range then that will suggest that you don't have much to lose. And it will be hard and slow. Also, on low carb, there is a point at which weight loss will stop. Unlike low calorie, where you will just lose muscle mass, low carbing is only about burning fat.

Can you use a calculator to get an idea of your body fat percentage? I'm on the lower side of a normal BMI (21.0) but my body fat percentage is 24-25% so although I'm slim with a healthy BMI I'm still carrying flab on my tummy. To have a healthy body composition I'm trying to lose a couple of pounds of fat and gain some muscle. My weight and BMI should go up a bit but I will have a healthier body fat percentage (I'm aiming for 22%).
