Hi everybody, hope you all have good results this morning!

I am very happy as I'm finally showing some progress on the scales. I've lost 6.6 lbs over the past couple of months and am 6 lbs away from my earlier set point that I had reached as a result of lifestyle changes due to my diabetes diagnosis. I'll be very happy to get back to that point within a few weeks, and then longer term I'd like to shave off another 6 lbs or so.

Good luck with the last week Smile

1lb on but had non low carb meal on Sat due to an unexpected long day out where nothing suitable was available.

Made some lovely meals last week and have portions in the freezer so I'm all sorted for this week.

These were 2 delicious meals if you're interested and not a cooking fan like me:
Slow cooked garlic chicken.
Easy chicken curry.

weigh in for me tomorrow (i'm only on week 6 though) will there be another bootcamp starting after this one biwi?

I made a vanilla pannacotta yesterday with just 15g of splenda - i did ask upthread about using sweetners when LC'ing but got no replies so guessed this one would be okay?? - anyway, it was really delicious so will add this to my diet as an odd treat, i had it with about 7 raspberries - YUM!

I am feeling slimmer and my clothes are fitting better but weight seems to be slow to come off (6lb in 5 weeks?)

B - Scrambled eggs with chicken, lots of butter. coffee and cream
L - salad, feta, olives and chicken
D - tuna steaks and salad or veg
3L water

Hope everyone has a good week

Hi all, lovely whoosh this week 3lbs off taking my total to 2st 2lb since march 21st.

Good luck everyone, hope you have a good week. I'll be joining the next bootcamp too as I'm hoping this is going to be a way of life for me now. I've got another 1st 7lbs ish to go but that's not set in stone, I just want to get rid of this baby belly I've carried around for the past 11 years! It's wobblier than ever now!

Not weighing in today as I've already had a shower, glass of water and breakfast.

Also, I had a last minute weekend to Alton Towers with friends and some not so LC foods were consumed. In a way I am glad because I realised that I enjoy the eating of the non-LC stuff but not how I feel afterwards.

Getting set for a final week of strict BC, afterwards I will be carrying on anyway so I am sure I will see some of you on the continuation thread next week.

B: Fried mushrooms and eggs, coffee with cream
L: Chicken, salad (lettuce, cucumber, cherry tomatoes), mozzarella balls
D: Mushroom stroganoff (lots of mushrooms that need eaten)
S: FF yogurt

I will be carrying on too, so I'm sure I'll pop into the continuing thread from time to time.

It's amazing how easy this WOL is on a long term basis. The only time I really struggle is when I feel sad or stressed, but I am learning other coping mechanisms. And I feel so well.

Doineed 6lbs in 5 weeks is pretty perfect. You don't need to be losing any faster than that, and lots of evidence to say that if you lose slowly you have more chance of keeping it off.

Report
HolgerDanske · 07/07/2014 09:10

Yes I agree, the lovely things about this WOL is that after a while you stop feeling the need to see huge losses very quickly. It just becomes something that happens here and there without you even really having to think about it. And then six or nine or twelve months later it suddenly dawns on you that things are actually going bloody brilliantly! Keep on keeping on and it will keep happening, and in the meantime you get to feel well and be healthy.

doineedhelp · 07/07/2014 09:31

thanks Lowcarb and holger
I think the weight loss is fine as long as it continues like that it is only when i read other threads and see 2 or 3 or 4lb losses a week that i started to think i must be doing this wrong as its coming off slowly?

As you say, it is a WOE / WOL and not a quick fix diet - i feel so much better eating like this Grin

Morning all, another 1.6 lbs off for me this week which I'm pleased with as life seems to be conspiring against me at the moment.

DH finally came home from working in Oz for nearly 4 months. Readjustment has been horrible. He's tired and crabby and has said some truly nasty things. I'm emotional, disappointed and sensitive and bad tempered with the poor kids in turn. I was so looking forward to having him home and it's just horrid at the moment. I'm sure things will settle down soon. I have been so close to opening a bottle of wine but knew that if I did I would probably quaff most of it in one evening and then the situation would just get worse. And I'd hate myself (and him) for letting my weight loss get derailed.

So I have stayed strong and feel proud of myself for not letting it all go to hell in a handcart.

I've also got this bloody persistent knee injury which is slowly slowly getting better but I know I could lose weight so much faster if I could get out running again. Sigh. I tried a short flat 2 miler last Thursday and it felt fine at the time but the next day was in agony again. But on a positive note it did calm down faster this time and yesterday we did quite a long walk and it was fine. I just need to be patient but it's hard at the moment with all the shit going on with DH. If I could get out and clear my head I could cope better.

Sorry for the rant but it's easy to vent here. Everyone keeps saying to me 'Oooh it must be lovely having DH back!!' and I'm just smiling and nodding when actually I just want to run away.

Sad

Morning everyone, snap CQ 1.6 lbs off for me too and I am over another barrier so feeling very happy.

Sorry to hear that your dh home coming has been hard CQ that sounds really hard to cope with. Hope it improves along with your knee.

doineed I never really get great big whooshes either but the slow and steady route seems to be working for me. I am going to stick with it this time and cling to the continuation thread right through the summer. I think I have another 10ish lbs to go to get back to a good and healthy me.

Pingu wow that is a fab lossSmile

JimmyCorkhill your name always makes me smile, miss Brookie. Thanks for the recipe links, my lc menus could do with something new.

Last week, that has gone quickly, hope everyone has a good week, thanks Biwi

I plan to sit in my greenhouse with a jug of iced water and plant some radishes sod the housework.

Another pound off for me this week, feeling like making crabby's crumble today, I wanted to make it last night but held off for weigh in this morning as I'm not sure if it will stall me with the nut topping.

well done on the losses everyone.

Congrats pingu, fantastic loss!

doineedhelp artificial sweeteners aren't allowed on bootcamp so I'm pretty sure the splenda is a no go.

CQ That is really tough, I hope things pick up as everyone re-adapts but if your DH is being nasty it's not on even if he is knackered and feeling a bit out of sorts. If he carries on it might help to sit him down and have a calm chat about how although you are supportive you aren't prepared to be treated badly and that his behaviour is negatively affecting everyone. Could you try going for a walk rather than a run to just get out, power walking is good for exercise and lower impact than running so might be easier on the knee?

Well done CQ on staying strong and avoiding the wine, i hope things get easier for you

ohh crabby's crumble that's a good idea.

doineed So far this bootcamp 9.4 lbs, at 5'6" and 159.2 and going through menopausal hell where my waist suddenly got up and went.

Realistically I think my 9 stone years are gone so I'll see how I feel, at least a bit of weight pushes the wrinkles out!

Report
doineedhelp · 07/07/2014 11:03

ah, okay, so when i see recipes that maybe have splenda in them or even the crumble (which has a lot of nuts) are these for after BC and BCL? Probably not going to see a loss tomorrow then huh!!!!

HolgerDanske · 07/07/2014 11:12

Tbh I lost loads of weight by low carbing last year (about three stone in three months) and I was using moderate amounts of sweeteners pretty much every day. So while it's not policy on boot camp, once you are doing this on your own, as it were, you ought to be able to keep losing as long as you don't use much and if you're not one of the ones who finds it stalls them.

Report
miffy49 · 07/07/2014 12:11

The whole thing about sweeteners and BC is that you are supposed to be getting rid of the taste for sweet things. They do stall some people but not others. Like Holger I lost the bulk of my weight using them. I tried cutting them right out to see if it would shift a stall but nothing happened. It did help get rid of the residual need for the occasional sweet thing though. I wouldn't panic about the odd bit in an occasional pud though or the occasional slimline mixer. Just not everyday as sugar cravings come back fast!

Report
HolgerDanske · 07/07/2014 12:17

I am all for being as strict as possible on boot camp but as soon as it's over I would much rather allow myself the odd sweetener or fizzy drink in order to work with the personality I have, which is one that prefers a sweetish tea to plain, and likes to have the odd soft drink at work when it's stiflingly hot. If I try to pretend I don't have sweetish tastes (which I do although they are much reduced through low carbing) I start to become more likely to derail simply by virtue of denying the reality of who I am. It makes me rebellious and much more likely to cheat. So for me, it makes sense to have it on the days I want it. But I also don't have much to lose anymore, so the stakes aren't as high.

But ten weeks isn't so long in the grand scheme of things, and giving up artificial sweeteners does definitely help to reset the palate. Only a few more weeks now (if you are going to keep on with it for the official ten).

Good luck everyone for this last week!!

Hello all, had a bit of a whoosh 5.5lb Grin

going to stay on bootcamp for the last week, although I will do my final weight on sunday morning going to have a bit of a carby treat after running the 10k .
Going to get my blood results on wednesday, but sounds like its all OK

Sorry to hear it CQ hope it gets better.

I'm really not bothered about giving it up, its not sweet things that are my trigger really (more bread, wine, pasta etc) its just when you have people over for dinner etc its quite easier to feed them on LC except dessert, so i was just experimenting... I guess if this is a complete new WOE then i need to be able to factor in the odd dessert, i just figure if i can control it and make it LC (apart from a tiny bit of sweetner) then it benefits me

Lets hope it doesn't stall me this week weigh in!!! will find out tomorrow

I'm checking in but not weighing in as I'm on my holidays! Grin The hotel breakfast is fab for low carbing as there's loads of eggs, meats, cheese, fruit and yoghurt. I had a fry up this morning, some unsweetened yoghurt and a couple of slices of melon. Yesterday we had steak for lunch and tapas for dinner so easy to avoid the carbs after all. I think we'll skip lunch but then it will probably be McDs for dinner to keep the kiddies happy so I'm not sure what we'll get there, maybe a bunless burger? I hope lots of people will continue on with this after Bootcamp as I'd like to lose another three pounds before the end of summer.

Sounds good Stunt. What about a McDs salad? I'm afraid I'm not that au fait with their menu given my gluten probs. Tends to be somewhere to avoid for me. The kids are old enough to buy their own!

holger Doineed I'm with you all the way! I'm prepared to forgo things like sweeteners for the duration of BC but I will have the odd pud or diet drink when I move into BC light as you have to be able to stick with it or you end up back where you started! I was reading a blog the other day. Not sure if it wasn't something Peter Attia had posted. Someone had a right go at him because he admitted to some birthday cake. He pointed out that its not cake on one or two occasions a year that causes problems, its cake every week (or even every day in some cases!) that does the damage. I am tending to the idea though that I will avoid sweeteners and when I do need to sweeten something it will be with a teaspoon of decent honey or something similar.
