My first week in and I weighed this morning. I only lost 2lb Sad I know a loss is a loss but I'm a bit pissed off disappointed. I've got about 5 st to lose so though the first few weeks I'd lose quite a bit.

stops sulking after that rant

hello therewearethen

as you say a loss is a loss so well done. I have read on these boards that if you had been following a calorie controlled 'diet' before starting BC (weightwatchers or slimming world etc) then it can take a little while for your body to get used to this WOE

Also, are you drinking enough water? Good luck with this week Smile

No I was eating crap what I wanted. Oh well I'm thinking positive! How did you get on?

i lost 6lb but to be honest just stopping drinking the amount of wine that i had been drinking would have accounted for that!

Best of luck for this week

therewearethen - totally agree with Doineedhelp 2lb is a good loss, as good as you would expect on any other diet.
If your on bootcamp then just maintain your food / water intake and keep on keeping on, it will happen and as they say the whoosh fairy will visit you Smile

Keep it up - my first week went well, but that is probably because I stopped eating so much food - just my portion sizes would account for tons.

But the point is - it all adds up. 7 weeks in on this bootcamp, and i can now say I have lost 12 lbs. Some weeks, no loss and some weeks a lb or 2. I sometimes let myself look with envy at those who lose more, but then I kick myself. It took me a long time to put all this weight on, so I should have the patience to lose it.

I still have another 3-4 stone to lose, and I know that is going to take time, so you will have company here. Water, water, water and remember to plan your food and try and add variety, or you will likely give up through sheer boredom! You need to have options, so that this becomes a woe and not a diet.

therewearethen - what plan were you following?

I don't think low carb is for everyone - i know it plays havoc with my blood sugar.

That's complete nonsense. Low carb stabilises your blood sugar!

I think low carbing is easy to cock up if you don't properly understand what and where carbs/ sugars are.

Are you confident that the food you've been eating definitely constitutes low carb?

(That's not meant as patronising as it sounds, it can be tricky at first!)

Hello all

I've just done week one on the IPD. Very disappointed with just 1.5lbs loss (have 31lbs to lose or 29.5 if I count this week's loss Smile. I've followed the book carefully, exercised etc. the only thing that I may have got wrong is snacking on nuts a bit too much ( and a bag of pork scratchings or two).

Any advice would be welcome.

EssexMum has a point. I suffer from seemingly symptoms of hypoglycaemia when starting a low carb diet. I looked up my feelings and symptoms and it is actually very common.

Just looked at your link tilly it is really interesting, advises to stick with lowering carb but to do it slowly, and as it takes a while for the body to learn how to burn fat in such cases the weight-loss will start more slowly, it lists these low blood sugar symptoms

heart palpitations or fibrillation
dizziness
light-headedness
sweating
headaches
nervousness
irritability
shaking and tremors
flushing
craving for sweets
intense hunger
nausea, vomiting
panic attack
numbness/coldness in the extremities
fatigue and shakiness for hours afterward
