Thought it might be nice if some of the longer term LC-ers could share their stories on one thread to inspire people new to the way of eating?

I've been LC since June last year, starting partway through a Bootcamp, so nearly a year now. I lost 30lb in five months and have maintained the loss for another six months apart from a minor 5lb blip at Christmas. I'm currently working on my fitness now to try and tone up a bit.

I feel so much healthier on this WOE and that has been confirmed by recent blood glucose and cholesterol tests coming out normal. No more bad temper when I get hungry, no more period pain, no tummy trouble or IBS, less nasal congestion, more energy, I sleep better, less plaque when I brush my teeth. Plus the food is amazing: grilled fish with julienne courgettes fried in butter, roast pork belly, salads with real vinaigrette. And everything tastes so much better when your tastebuds haven't been blunted by sugar: I never realised just how sweet fruit was before.

My story:

Started SW on the 29th August sticking mainly to the Original plan so fairly low carb. Wanted something a bit stricter and found the Harcombe Diet. I do a fairly LC version of the diet which matches well to the Bootcamp.

Since starting I have lost over 60lb. The loss has slowed down to an average of 1lb a week now, but I'm only half a stone from my target weight.

I've gone from clothes size 18/20 to a comfortable 12.

I'm a daily weigher and I use the Happy Scales app to see the downward trend. 4lb to go and I'll have lost 30% of my starting weight.

This WOE has absolutely transformed my life. I never cheat (which I consider to be eating outside of the allowed food) except for perhaps 4 glasses of wine since NYE. I do sometimes snack, but this would be on pork scratchings / a slice of freshly roasted meat cooked for the next day. Eating this way is a joy not a struggle. People were initially concerned about the effects on my cholesterol and although I don't have a starting reading, a recent measurement showed my overall and bad cholesterol were both low.

I started Bootcamp this January, dd was 3 months old and I was (still am) breastfeeding. I weighed 188lbs and at 5ft 2 I needed to shift it!
By the end of that bootcamp I weighed 162lbs, which is a loss of 26lbs. I then carried on BC light but with a few more planned Carby foods.
Last week at the beginning of this bootcamp I was 154lbs, and I lost 6lbs last week. I love this WOE!
I'm never hungry (my sceptical mum said "well of course you're not, every time you're hungry you just eat something fatty" - as if that's a bad thing!) and my ibs has vanished.

Started LCing on Jan 6th.

Lost just over a stone.

Now maintaining by LCing during the week and relaxing at weekends (cakes,Puds, choc etc BUT not going mad and I still don't eat bread or pasta at all and only have potatoes if I go to someone's for dinner).

I've actually found it far more forgiving of cheat days than I expected. Love it.

Oh and I never get heartburn/indigestion any more which I used to be plagued by. Well - unless I've had quite a few carbs!

Did bootcamp last autumn. Went from 111kg to 90kg (about 3 stones) between sep and christmas. Down from size 22-24 to 16. Have maintained it since then but plan to have another major drop soooooon....
Not hard to do long term - i have little daily cheats of 84% choc which is why i have stayed the same.
Best benefits are no reflux n pain from it, lots of energy all the time and best of all NO Hunger. Sometimes feel empty but not reach-for-the-snicker starving like i used to get. Also high blood pressure has dropped so i have come off medication for it. Big bonus is that i feel and look 10 years younger as i now make an effort with clothes, and even now people comment daily on how well i look. I asked the nurse at the docs if she really meant thinnernot well, but she said she meant well. My kids now have a younger trendier mum.(dds ages 13, 15 & 8).
