CSA question (yes another one!)

So ex-dh phones to tell me that the CSA have informed him they will be taking £400 from his wages. Currently I am on income support, child tax credits but am hoping to have work pretty damn soon.

(Actually I was offered a job but I have had to ask them if they would take me on the next intake as I have only been registered for a few months and until I am officially registered at the jobcentre for 6 months I will have no money for the transition period - until my first wage.)

Anyhoo, my question for all you experts who have been through this before is this - okay more than one!!!!

Did the CSA contact you at all, I haven't had any communication that they were doing this?

I heard that this is based on me getting income support so will I now get the extra (I worked it out that IS is £3000 per year and they will be taking £4800) or will that disappear into the vat of the CSA money?

Unfortunately as ex has been giving me money to cover the debts he left now he says he cannot afford to do that so I am gubbed either way!

you will only get £10 per week of that maintenance, I wouldnt pass up the job offer as you could find that when you are ready to go back to work there isnt anything suitable, if you cant wait for the first wage maybe the company will give you an advance or you could apply for a crisis loan to tide you over, the csa may contact you but will deal with the DWP.

the csa should have contacted u to tell u how much they are taking from him. the amount the take doesnt have anything to do with your income.

if u only have 1child they will take 15% of his salary. plus an additional 5% for any arrears.

if he is in arrears you will be allowed to keep slightly more than the £10 per week. im goin thru the same just now. they take £320 a month from my x and i only see around 100 of it as im on benefit.

any more questions and i'll try help (plus ive got friend who works in csa)
