I took ds out for meal in pub (it was a treat. I said we would stick to 2 meals for £6 and he started moaning (pre teen!) saying he doesnt like the meals on offer etc etc

But it made a difference of about £4 to overall cost, which I know isnt much money, but every penny counts.

I get fed up with budgeting all the time-and just wish i didnt have to. its hard enough raising kids without having to watch every penny.

i got a real bargan from a charity shop (labels but looked new) which he loved. But when I mentioned it was a charity shop he didnt like it then!

im just worried as the financial pressure will only get worse

its not fair!!

i do work-but get no maintance and have to pay a huge amount toward my rent. after i pay travel costs-kids travel costs too etc etc

Yes every penny counts so your son needs to understand that you dont have a lot of money and it could mean the difference between going out and having a set meal or sitting at home instead, my daughter is 6 and when im feeling the pinch and she wants soemthing I say you can have it but pay me it back out of your pocket money and I make sure she see me taking it even though I might then go and put it back in her money box
