you will get income support for yourself...you could do with giving them a ring tomorrow and see how much ur entitled to...you will also get help towards your rent as well

when my sil was on her own with 3 kids she was getting £190 a week in income support for her and her kids plus child benefit plus all her rent paid, does the child maintenance get paid through the csa or is it done between the two of you?????

I am not 100% sure but I think that the amount of income support you get is effected by how much maintenece you get.

I am a single mum of 3 and I get £57 IS, £116 CTC and £43 CB a week. Plus full housing and council tax benefit.

I don't get any maintenece, but if I did, I would only be able to keep £10 of it before it effected my IS claim.

i thought that IS was paid just to me and child tax and maintanence was paid to me also ???

I would be worse off if I claimed income support than getting the child maintenance. Is he willing to give you any cash in hand on top.

you cant claim IS because you are over the limit of £59, you can claim child tax credit, housing benefit and maybe council tax credit, ring tax credits asap to enable you to get the money you are entitled too.

muma3 IS no longer pay for the children, so if you wasnt receiving maintenance you would claim that for yourself (£59) and 3 x child tax credits, 3 x child benefit, any maintenance is regarded as income.

Does anyone know what happens with benefit entitlements if a person moves a new partner (with a job) into their Council House and the Child Maintenance payments are NOT via CSA but by personal arrangement with EH? What benefits may they be entitled to keep (if they don't work themselves?).

you will get working tax and child tax as a family as your new partner works. the maintenance you will keep . just left that " new partner " so was in that situation previous . have to pay full rent and council tax though

Thanks Mama3 - it's not me, but I'm interested to know. So there is no Income Support then, and only Job Seekers allowence if actively seeking a job?

Also, sorry...if you get a job and work less than 16 hours a week, the child tax and working tax stays the same doesn't it?

it depends on what JSA you are on whether you are allowed to keep it or not, if on income based than any monies coming into the house will cancel it out, but if on contribution based then they get to keep it for 6 months.

no no other benefits.income support and jsa are out the question. may get help with nhs costs if you earn(or your partner) under £15,500 we were just over that bugdet so didnt qualify.
all other money coming in will affect the working tax and child tax. everythime your partner gets a pay rise (mine got £200 pa) and it was taken off the wt
hope this helps

i am a single mum with 2 children, i get £120 a month child benefit, £250 maintenance money and then £81 a week tax credit. not entitled to income support as i apparently get too much maintenance.

toyr TC@s will go up, mine have gone from £62 p/m to £45 p/w, so am assuming yours should as well.

Report
munz · 21/09/2007 16:38

also the lady told me today i'll be better offf doing 16 hrs p/w as then i'll get 100% maintenace, £300 (p/m), CB £18 p/w tc £45 p/w plus WTC (apparently it's 80% of your child care costs you can have back.) and will get some contribution to HB etc so if I do that and get a job of say £400 p/m we should be ok - DS & I and have some sort of life we're used to.
