Does anyone else have this problem?

I split up with ex in august and since then he has 2yo DS 3 out of 4 weekends. He lives 2.5 hours drive away, which may be relevant.

The problem I'm having is that every Sunday DS comes home he is fine, then he wakes up Monday morning usually full of a cold with a bad chest. This happens more often than not. I think it may have something to do with changing beds as well as the change of weather.

I know I can't do anything about DS changing beds, but does anyone else have this problem? Did your DC grow out of it? Do you have any advice to help prevent it? It's getting really frustrating that the first two days I have him back is spent with him grizzly and stuck inside and when I get him 100% better I'm sending him of again Confused

Are you sure you don't have a mould problem in your house (it's not always clearly visible)? Mould can cause cold-like symptoms/bad chest.
He could get "used to it" by the end of the week, but then when he goes to stay in a house where there is no mould, and then when he returns the symptoms start again because he hasn't been exposed to it for a few days.

It may be something else too, I see mould everywhere because I am really badly allergic to it myself.

Is the weather much different where his dad lives?

I have checked for mould everywhere. The windows are always opened every morning to air the room out.

I have asthma and am sensitive to mould also so wouldn't I be affected too if there was mould?

The weather is not hugely different, but can be the difference between sunny and dry where I am and windy and wet where ex lives. Or the other way around.

Could you try giving anti-histamine when he comes home before he goes to sleep and see if that helps. At least that way you would be able to tell if it was an allergy?
