weekend childcare

does anyone have any good suggestions for weekend daytime childcare?

dcs are primary age.

ex is unreliable and sometimes I have classes at the weekend for a couple of hours. I don't have too many people I can ask to babysit and I don't want to keep asking.

any suggestions for places the kids can do some kind of supervised activity they might enjoy for a few hours? or even where to search for that kind of thing?

Based in Edinburgh.

Best place to start would be the council and their child care dept. they can put you in touch with childminders who do weekends and probably have some good info on holiday clubs and activities of that sort. Weekend child care is hard to find but it IS out there.

Best bet at the weekends is probably some club or activity if you can find something that they're both (all?) into. Or ask around if anyone will do a regular swap with you. Some working parents would jump at the chance of some free childcare in the week and won't mind extra kids at the weekend.

Nursary staff sometimes do paid babysitting if you can afford to pay

unfortunately i work during the week as well.

think I'll have to see if I can find a club of some sort.

Try gum tree but do check references.

Theatre schools like perform stagecoach etc tend to be longer sessions eg up to three hours

Look up stagecoach Edinburgh they run for three hours . But a babysitter might be cheaper...

thanks i'll check that out.
might need to get an after school sitter anyway so may try an agency to see how much they cost and compare to local emergency child minders.

for the kids tho an activity is probably more fun.
