Ahh now there's your first mistake....Mumsnet will not keep you sane! You will learn more crazy stuff here then you could ever imagine!

And never google anything they tell you....wait until someone braver does it first ;)

Welcome anyway.

You might still feel a little raw but soon enough you'll be thinking "what on Earth was I thinking...wooohoooooo I'm free"

Welcome and well done. It's not easy taking that step to leave, but once I did I never looked back. I can still remember my excitement around a new adventure and the feeling of freedom that in my own home I no longer had to walk on eggshells, listen to someone criticising my every move and undermining anything I tried to do. It was bloody marvellous and that feeling lasted a good long time.

Hi ladies well today is the day I see my ex for the first time since the split he's pick our dd up. I'm nervous about seeing him. I've been feeling positive about what I've done so hopefully I will be fine. Wish me luck Smile

Hi Confuzzled! Welcome to fab world of lone parenting.

Its my first anniversary of being a lone parent to my 2 dds - 5yo and 3 yo. I love it! Once you get over the few weeks/months you will be fine.

The best thing I did was to move house. It did me and the girls the world of good to start afresh. My youngest was 2yo when we split up and has been fine. There was a few 'wheres daddy?' when he left but she is defo a mummys girl now!

Smile

Hi
Congratulations a better life awaits... All the shit is officially the past.
I am also quite recently split, about 2 months now and my dd turns one oh so soon.
I just wanted to reply to your comment about not being upset yet. I thought this was the case with myself, assumed I was numb and it would hit me soon. Now I am starting to realise that I'm just relieved.
To have gotten to the stage where you split up with the father of your baby means you have already been through the whole plethora of emotions. The stress of trying to make it work is lifted.

Here is my tuppence worth

Don't be hard on yourself, your ex will probably do that for you!

Give your self treats, no bugger else will

Remember to appreciate the good things, no more doing his washing, don't have to share a kitchen, whole bed to yourself, whatever.

Don't ever bad mouth their dad in front of them even if he deserves it

Accept help, ask for help, always look for opportunities to return the favour.

I do wonder sometimes how did people manage before they invented coffee, calpol and mumsnet!

Thankyou so much salamander your words are so refreshing to hear, I think I do just feel relieved no more waiting for him to get home from the pub, no more ironing his massive t shirts that take an age!I'm looking forward to the future there's so much i can do with my dd Smile
