Southern Hemisphere Types - what kind of sunscreen do you use on your face?

after your morning moisturiser to stop it turning to leather? I don't mean the stuff you put on when you get to the park, but as part of your beauty/anti sun damage tannery routine.

Do you use a bog standard one same as you use on the kids or one aimed specially at ladies?

Are they all the same seeing as it is all skin anyway or is it worth paying extra dollars for one that says "facial" on the bottle?

hi suzy wong,
I'm in the middle east and when I first moved out here I used a really expensive clarins SPF 30 face cream (around £30) which I thought was rubbish as it didn't rub in properly. I then bought a much cheaper nivea anti aging suncream SPF 30 which was about £5 and is much better! I tend to use mineral water sprays (evian etc) during the day as well to help with the dryness.

My moisturiser has an SPF in it already so I only top up with what I put on the kids if I am at the park.

Mine is sunsense daily face matt formula 30+ broad spectrum. Oil free base by EGO. Can you tell I read the tube Like ghosty I use that as my moisturiser. I just pop that on every morning.

Then slather on normal moisturiser at night.

This one would not be expensive - my mum got it for me BUT I know the sunsense range it not expensive.

I still need industrial one for my ensuing chicken skin cleavage.

23 degrees and sunny all day to day so down to the river. How about you?

Oh god you are all so organised. I don't bother, then get burnt every year....and blame the hole in the ozone!

I shall take tips !

I probably look 10 years older than i should because i don't take care

To be fair i cant blame the sun on my bingo wings!

Oh, I like Clarins (just to confuse the issue).

But my skin is very very pale so in fact I don't rely on sunscreen and always wear a hat.

So MY question is, what hat can I wear this summer and look like an actual human being rather than a children's TV presenter?

I've never really sorted out the sunhat "thing".

Ego is one of the best ranges of skincare there is - very affordable and very good.

My one has a matt finish so it is slightly tinted.

As to the rest - 30+ everywhere when out and about - even in the garden my fairskinned fair haired children are smothered in sunscreen and no hat no play policy!!

I also do dd1 every morning before school.

31 today SuzieW - dd2 and 3 have been to swimming lessons. Dd3 is sleeping, dd2 will probably crash out later.

Dd1 - first day back at school after sept holidays.

Me - madly getting school committee stuff ready for tonight's meeting.

I use Sunsense Daily face SPF30+ too. It is a great sunscreen but also a lovely moisturiser too. I just slap it on every day under my make up. I think the 75g tube I have was about $17 from the chemist.

I wear a hat - cheap and you dont have to wash it off your face later

î just dont like to get that brwon really and one look at the sun and I turn brown.

just bought barbadoes for kids, will use that on my face tend to go for the kids stuff cos of high spf and cos I figure its abit more gentle on the face.

Have heard that alot of them are very similar and the cheaper ones are just as good at sun protection.

Despite being a complete sucker for shiny packaging and posh cosmetics I also use the sunsense one. I can never quite trust that the posh ones are doing the job as well as proper ones.

I also have a nice range of hats and some sunnies that are permanently attached.

oh suzy wong - in my latest women's day - Ad for sunsense anti-aging face matte - invisible tint 30+ spf lotion.

You can find out more at www.sunsense.com.au

sunnies always attached to face - otherwise squint all the time - very glare sensitive am I.

Hats - whatever I find I like at the time. Usually go for cloth ones I can wash - cancer council do ones I like.

I have my sunnies on my head right now ... and there are black skies and pissing rain outside ... but you never know when the sun will pop out and blind you here ... I have too many 'smile' lines anyway, no need for more wrinkles than are necessary

oh ghosty - people look at me in winter like I am mad but unless it is so black that you cannot see 20cm in front of you - I need glasses to cut the glare.

i rue my mispent youth sunbaking my summers away!!

yup suzy was 40 on 24th september.

Had dinner out with dh and then we went and saw Bill Bailey.

Went to canberra late Aug by myself.

Went to coffee club with a load of girlfriends for coffee and cake.

Had a great time, still feel about 25 and got spoilt rotten.

But yes - the big 4-oh as people say.

Oil of Olay has a 30plus product.. saw it on telly last night. They saw that the skin cancer foundation endorses it.. whether thats true or not!

Big winds happening in NZ, sunscreen may be blown off my face today!"

I have used the olay one - was a bit heavy for me and smelt very sunscreeny iyswim

the sunsense one is sooo light - which I really like.

That looks very interesting ms wong.

Bill Bailey was good - spoilt by a young thing next to me who just laughed like a hyena all the way through his show. He was funny - with a small bit of hilarity but not wet your pants, not be able to breathe hysterical.
