Hellllloooooo my daaarlinks ....

Well, here's the run down. After finally getting hold of MrsJC I made my way into town on the train to meet her. DH and the children dropped me off at the station and my goodbyes included, "Don't wait up, I don't know when I will be home" .
I found MrsJC loitering outside her hotel and we had big hugs before walking 15 minutes or so to Beer Deluxe on Flinders Street. We talked non stop all the way like we were childhood friends . When we got to the pub we found that Wilbs and DCSnatchsunhill were on the sauce already [lushes].
Mumsnet is an amazing phenomenon really ... after introductions with real names and Mumsnet names (good job it was a quiet Tuesday night) we settled down for a good chinwag ... then tangox3 turned up followed swiftly by superloopy and livinginadreamworld ... We talked like old friends - which we all are, kind of and DCsnatch kept us all amused. She's a funny lass that one ... cracks me up
We then walked down to Southbank and settled down for dinner and the aforementioned Gigantic pizzas ... Wine and vodka flowed with much chit chat ... loads of anecdotes flew across the the table and much laughing was had by all.
My lasting memory will be DCsnatch explaining quite clearly how old a boy is when he begins to produce Sperm (don't ask why) with the waiter standing calmly behind her waiting for a dessert order. I thought Wilbs was going to pee her pants
MrsJC gently encouraged me to have an Irish Coffee (which was more Irish than Coffee if you see what I mean) and I am sure that is why I felt pretty crapola this morning - as I wasn't that drunk ...
We were the last to leave the restaurant and had it not been a Tuesday I would have very easily been up for further fun and games.
I think we have to have weekend meet ups in the future laydees .... [gagging for it] I love Vodka.
After kissing the other girls goodbye Tangox3 and I took MrsJC back to her hotel and then shared a cab home ...
I rolled in at 12.15 which is very late for me I have to say.
Didn't feel that flash this morning but was determined to make it into town to finally meet up with Cali ...
After dragging the children around a museum we went back to SouthBank and I met up with MrsJC AND Cali this afternoon for an all too short hour. I was with a friend and I must say she must think we are a bit odd
Cali is fine - still alive and kicking and hasn't murdered anyone yet.
She is coping with the mad In Laws, just but it isn't going too well as both her children have been chundering which is not good news for Califrau considering she is an Emetephobe (sp) and coupled with the EMIL's shenanigans I think she was relieved to have a day with MrsJC ... they have had a wonderful day shopping and catching up ...
When i caught up with them we had a top hour talking in bizarre Mumsnet speak mentioning strange names etc etc ...
Again, lots of hugs with them both as they are lovely and fabulous ... it was just brilliant to see them
We took a photo of the three of us today so I will download it and put it on my profile in a bit. No photos from last night though as not everyone wants their pics on MN (pretty understandable)

I think Eids we'll have to have our own very exclusive clique meetup nearish Brissy next time I take DD up to the Gold Coast.

If only I'd known last time DD and I did Tropical Fruit World!

Are there really no more people from Brisbane? Like Perth? You and SuzyWong are very rare beasts indeed [slaps on protected species stamps and puts rings on your ankles to research you in your natural habitat]

Oh yes, and HORRORS Calif. I can't believe the DSSs are being sick. Is DH with you or can you get the EMILs to deal with it all?

You poor thing. Fab that you're here though , hope that you're able to have a good time aside from the sickness.

MrsJC was having a truly wonderful time though ... really really enjoying her hotel and freedom, mooching around the city and having uninterrupted reading time . They went to a fabulous art exhibition today (Retro art apparently) and MrsJC's trip to see the show "Wicked" tonight was being much looked forward to.
When I dropped her off at her hotel last night I felt very at her swanning in and up to her room ... Just to have a few nights ALONE ... sigh.
But, can't complain etc etc, feel blessed to have DH and the children etc etc blah blah ...

Hello!
I am BACK! I had the most fabulous time, not least 'cos of meeting loads of lovely mumsnetters.
I am ill though - the cold I'd just about held at bay throughout has now descended with a vengeance and my throat is razor blades and am still deaf from the plane (am slightly worried that something quite bad happened to one ear on the decent). Well worthit though. Children disappointingly unexcited to see me, house a hellhole. I want to go back! Melbourne is fabulous. I will be back very soon.

really sad about Rob Guest - had no idea when I went as it hadn't been reported then - he had the stroke on Tuesday (when there is no show) and died sometime Wednesday evening/night - all we knew was that his part was played by the understudy. It was fantastic. I didn't love the actual music but the story, the sets, the lighting and the choreography were amazing.

I had such a great trip, it was everything I'd hoped it would be and more. And so nice to see people you 'know' in far flung corners of the world
