How many aussie mums made it to the TOY SALES today??

I was desperate for a bike for dd1. her birthday is in Aug. I have one on Layby for dd2 ( birthday Nov - cheaper than any of the sale prices).

So I shoved yoghurt at the girls, gave dd3 milk. Then got them sorted to be at the shop for the opening. ( I know seriously MAD!!!) but this bike is just right for dd1 and we have looked at so many. IT was a great price.

Well - got there - got to the bike section after taking out the opposition with a double trolley only to not be able to find it. I was about to drop to the ground and start wailing when - a lovely lady asked what I was looking for and showed me the two lonely ones left. Well HA HA!! I got it. Put it on no deposit layby - only had to pay $2 service fee. Dd1 has a gorgeous bike for her birthday.

Picked a few other christmas bits and pieces ( they have asked for a trampoline!!) as well.

Got home - the best part. WHen I checked the docket - I got the bike for $20 less that is right LESS than the sale price.

Now just have to scope out the Target sale for a trampoline!! Then my christmas shopping for at least dd1 and dd2 is done!!!

Yay for your bargin! That's brilliant!

I was going to go to the sales here after a BP check at the GP [was seen for a pre admission appt at hosp last week & BP high, so they asked GP to check it out]...140/95, swelling, protein...

Nice! Especially in light of Pre Eclampsia with DD!

So, he sent me off to Labour & Del...spent 5 hours there with MIL & Dd [who was fantastic] being poked, prodded, scanned, monitored....lalala! I have late onset pregnancy induced hypertension!

But that's better than PE!

So, no sales for me....which probably left dh quite relieved, but way to spend a perfectly good day!

Not toys, but while we're on the topic of bargains, K-Mart (yes! K-Mart) has FANTASTIC Le Creuset-style cast iron pots for 60% off. They were cheap to start with but I couldn't believe it when I read the docket and saw they'd knocked off a further 60%.

Congratulations on your score, eids!

Oh  my god I wondered what the hell was going on when I walked into Big W for a colouring book! How does the lay by thing work? Ive no idea

I accidentally went into Big W yesterday and was a little bit scared of the numerous large tracksuited mothers who were shouting at their many children while trying to push trollies which were bulging at the seams. I quickly bought a bike pump and left!

Layby is when you but something but pay it off over time, you usually get 12wks to pay and are required to make fortnightly payments. The shop keeps the item until it is paid for.

layby - you pay a deposit and then have a set period to pay off the item. Store puts it away - you pay it off - then it is yours.

With the toy sales - they have no deposit but you pay a $2 fee and then you have until Christmas eve to pay it off.

What a crap day for you sandcastles!

I went last night without the children and managed to lay by presents for nieces and nephew and finish all shopping bar trampoline for the three dds!!! Dh thinks it is sad I have christmas sorted in July. BUT he does not have to sort out end of year stuff with regards to school, therapists, swim teachers etc!!! SO I figure get the big stuff out of the way and then I can worry about all the others.

Best part - pick it up week before christmas and wrap it - no worrying about hiding it from the dds for ages.

NInedragons - not sure where you are:

check out this place - have managed to score some good presents from here too

have a store in Sydney but I just do it online ( being in Brissy)

before I had dds I would be the one running around in the week prior to christmas worrying about getting everything. NOW with the toy sales - the kids in the family are taken care of. I can then worry about the grown ups.

oh chloe - sorry you missed out on the house. I am hoping my dd did not see the fake pony in the toy catalogue as she seems to have a thing for horses.

Wait til the target one comes - that is even worse!!!

I made it to the Kmart and Big W sales on the weekend with DH in tow. Have now got loads of presents bought for birthdays and xmas.

I am feeling quite pleased with myself and now looking forward to the Target toy sale to finish off all the xmas shopping.

Superlooopy - I wandered in to target at the weekend to discover you could pre order some of the big stuff from the catalogue - it then will be put on layby for you!!! So I managed to preorder the trampoline for the dds.

Just an idea if you are getting anything BIG!

THey had the things like pool table, trampolines, bouncy castle, dolls houses, workbench, spa, pools. There was 60 something things you could preorder - if you were putting them on layby. If you wanted to buy them straight out you had to pay full price.

I thought the Target one hasn't started yet? Is it just Big W and K-Mart?

I'm in Fiji [drops that in casually] and thought I wasn't going to miss out. I got heaps last year and it was all such a good deal.

Well done for armouring up the double trolley and taking out the opposition Eids, but then I know you're the expert at this.

You have to explain lay-by to us every year . I know what to do now so will help out with the confusion.

Sorry about the hospital sandcastles, are you feeling ok now?
