Hi there

I think you can rest assured that there is nowhere in Spain that has the same amount of crime as London at the moment. I would go as far as to say that in many village and small towns stabbings and shootings are a very rare occurence. When it does happen is usually on a domestic level, there is a lot of domestic violence between husbands and wives.

So the thing to consider is what type of place you´d like to live: coast, rural, city, mountains etc Spain is such a varied country in this sense.

How old are you boys? There is very little in the way of toddler groups, decent play centres, activities etc but that depends on the age of your children.

I live about 40kms from Madrid and although crime is much, much less here there are many things I mss about England

HTH

There is more to the UK than London, saintpeta. Stabbings and shootings are a very rare occurence in most parts of the UK too! Are you Spanish? I don't understand why your choice is only between London or anywhere in Spain.

I'd echo what bebespain says.

Moving to another country to live is a big decision, and one that you should research well. Deciding where to live if you have no ties to a particular area can be hard, but also liberating, in that you can weigh up all the pros and cons.

I live in a medium size city in NW Spain, and while the quality of life is great, there are things I miss about England too.

I did live in spain for 5 years before i had kids - they are 2 & 4 years and i would have a lot of support if i make the decision to move and i know i would miss the familiarity of london....i have also considered kent mablemurple house is purple!! i liked canterbury and surroundings. Spain is still a contender i would love for the boys to have a decnt quality of life & learn another language or too....i wish now i had boughta property in barcelona now i doubt i would be able to afford anything there!

From what I know of Spain I think it would be a fabulous place to live and bring up kids. If you have the friends and support, go for it.
(Actually, it's my hair and my cat that are purple. Purple, purple everywhere )

We have a place in Marbella, and it is lovely but there is alot of theft. Every month someone's place is broken into around us. Too touristy to live, maybe? But I really love Valencia and Sevilla. Wish we had bought there instead...

Hi Saint Peta
I am with you on the crime! I am so sick and also worried about the soaring level of crime (gun and knife that is) in the UK that I am certain that I don't want my little boy to be educated in the UK. He will go to primary school for a few years but there is no way I want him to go to secondary school in England. We are looking to move abroad before then. Spain is one of the places we are thinking of too.
