Just had good news and now know that we definitely will be based in Chatswood

I'll be more than willing to drive somewhere. Have Garmin will travel (without getting lost too much ;)

My diary is wide open as i'm still 'Billy no mates'

Hi!! Sorry, didn't see this before. Yes, I am up for a meet up. Chatswood isn't far from me. Anyone else up for it?

Report
sunnydelight · 01/06/2008 06:04

Ditto. This isn't the most viewed board MrsBigD - even addicted to MN as I am I often don't think of checking here. I'm far too busy trying to work out if people have been unreasonable of not

Welcome to Sydney! Chatswood is just down the road from me as well (we're St. Ives) so I'd be up for meeting. Are you staying in Ryde at the moment or am I confusing you with someone else? Were you thinking with or without kids? Evening without would work better for me at the moment tbh. If you want to CAT me your mobile I'll give you a call. How are you going with finding schools etc.?

ninedragons · 01/06/2008 06:55

Yes please!

I am only going to be in Sydney for two weeks and a lot of that will be taken up with various other commitments. Don't organise it around me, obviously, but if it's somewhere I could make it and on a date I'm free I'd absolutely love to.

I'm around for the last fortnight of June, and staying in Balmain.

Hi MrsBigD, have only just noticed this too. I'm up for a meet-up. How does everybody feel about the Opera Bar? [barges in and takes over]

Oooh Oooh and I've just realised if we meet up we'll know each other and be able say 'MSN ME!' on threads and be all cliquey and say 'well I've met MrsBigD and Ninedragons and they're both gorgeous'

Report
arfishy · 01/06/2008 07:10

Oops and AquaSea and SunnyD are clearly gorgeous too

Are you pg SunnyD? Or is that Sandcastles? [easily confused]

Report
ninedragons · 01/06/2008 07:41

Opera Bar sounds perfect.

I'm not gorgeous but my DD is . Actually I am thinking oh shit, they're all going to discover I am deeply frumpy and have the odd grey hair poking through that I can't do anything about while breastfeeding. I'd get flayed on the feeding boards if I said I was going to wean DD so I could dye my hair for a MN meet-up!

Is the Opera Bar dressy dressy dressy? If it's evening dress only I'll have to remember to pack one.

sunnydelight I shall post on 'AIBU' from now on if I need to get hold of you .
Yes we're the family staying in Ryde atm and will be getting the keys to new home in Chatswood 7 June . Went out to Auburn Mega Home Mall today and bought beds in preparation to get organised.

DD is starting school tomorrow in Chatswood primary so we're set. Now to the impossible task to find care for DS. Can't cat but my mobile is 0435214339 if I am now inundated with weird phone calls who knows I might enjoy the sudden attention after my interactive vaccum LOL

aquasea great to hear I'm not alone in that neck of the woods. On another parenting board I'm on everybody seems to be from the Western 'burbs

arfishy ohohohohoh I haven't been all cliquy ever so that might be fun. Though I have organised mn meets before when still in West London and we didn't have one single deranged axe murderer {mad scientist laughter emoticon}

so ninedragon don't worry, everybody is gorgeous in their own wonderful way

Opera Bar? Am assuming that's somewhere in the city? I admit my ignorance. Sounds like the place though were I'd be bussing/training it as alcoholic beverages might be aplenty? and Evening Dress???? eeeeeeeeeek don't have, need to go shopping LOL and obviously that would be a non-kiddies meet

Datewise when exactly are you here ninedragon? That way we can organise something around the time when you are here. I am flexible as I have no social life yet ;)

Nope not deeply dressy. Lots of people arrive there not just the opera visitors. You'd get away with jeans if you wanted to.

Shall we all agree not to mention each others grey hair ?

Opera Bar

phew won't have to spend lots of money then nor starve myself to fit into the one nice dress I have!

And yes we shall all agree not to mention grey hair or clothes sizes

Ooh can I join in? I'm technically a local Sydney girl, but moved back here after living in Canada for a while, and would love some conversation with other mums, as all my friends are slack uni students

MrsBigD where in Ryde do you live? I grew up there and am back there now with DS and DH.

MrsBigD · 01/06/2008 10:07

bcnowpea, I think it's a 'the more the merrier' so I'm sure you can come too ;)

we're in a Motel at the moment near Blaxland Road and only in Ryde for a max of another 2 weeks But Chatswood isn't that far to drive if one gets on the right roads LOL... the first couple of trips I managed to end up somewhere completely different as I 'stay right on x road' a bit too far right and then couldn't get over LOL

Wow! I just checked back and it looks like the Sydney MNers are going to be largin' it I thought it was going to be me and MrsBigD having a civilised coffee but no! Loads of cocktails at the Opera Bar sounds fabulous. I am assuming we are talking evening so no little monsters darlings?
(well done arfishy for 'barging in and taking over' I love the Opera Bar and there is no better place if you are new or unsure about living here because you look at that view and think, "yep, I'm living the dream". Stunning.) Bring it on, ladies! When is this event happening?

bamamama · 01/06/2008 10:39

Can I just request that you all have such a lovely time that you make this a regular meet up extending well into next year so that I can come too from about Feb onwards.....[whiny and needy emoticon].

As you were.

Report
MrsBigD · 01/06/2008 10:43

bamamama I'm sure once we get the meet-up ball rolling there will be plenty!

Aquasea we can still do a quiet coffee anyhow with or without little monsters darling(s)

Don't move your dates around just for me, but I will be in Sydney from June 13-29.

Report
MrsBigD · 01/06/2008 10:50

Hi ninedragons, no worries about moving dates around for you ;) that way we have a date to aim for!!!

Ok ladies... which day shall it be? Weekday, Friday, Saturday?

I'm up for anything as long as I'm still concious enough during the week to drop dd off at school

Shall we potentially aim for Friday 20th or Saturday 21st?

sunnydelight · 01/06/2008 11:29

I can't do the 21st, but would be up for Friday 20th if that suits everyone else. The Opera Bar sounds great. I used to really enjoy the Brighton MN piss ups meet ups; it would be nice to get something regular going.

For whoever asked no I AM NOT PREGNANT (hyperventilates at thought). No offence, but I have 10 years top to bottom with my three and as DD is now 5 and I am starting to get my life back the thought of doing it all again isn't appealing
