I have done this thread before...thought I had it sorted and had a quote we were happy with...then I asked if there were any other additional charges (Thanks cadmum!!!) and...er...yes, they forgot to mention about £600 worth! Arrrgh!

Feeling rather stressed, and really wanted to book the shipping this week...only 11 weeks until we leave.

We are using Anglo Pacific. PSS are also highly rated.

Who were you planning on using?

We were going to use Ship It. I think I emailed Anglo Pacific and they didn't get back to me . Oh how I hate this...wishe we could just leave it all here, or had endless money to bring it without the cost stress.

Don't use Allied Pickford. We used them (but the other direction) and they tried to rip us off - the actual volume of our stuff was less than the estimated volume, but they tried to charge us the estimated volume anyway.

Any recommendations on Ireland to London relocation / movers?

We use Brittania.

They were efficient & did a great job for us.

We used GB liners. Their agents this end are Nuss who delivered and unpacked here. Both were fantastic - the kind of pleasant, efficient, decent blokes you are happy to have in your house for the day. I can't bear having grumpy sods in my home handling my stuff The Nuss guys even coped well when I broke down sobbing when I opened a box of fragile stuff that had been gone through by customs and chucked back in again without the packaging (bastards) and found a wedding present smashed to pieces.

So are you coming back to Sydney in 11 weeks Astrophe? - thought it wasn't until the end of the year.

We usded First contact from here to Oz and were very happy with them; Used SEVEN SEAS from Oz back (although they do move both ways) and would NOT NOT recommend them at all.

Good Luck, I found it very stressful!

This end they used ITS to bring our stuff, they also were prompt & efficent. They unwrapped stuff & took the packaging away.

They said they would even come back & take away the rest of the unwanted boxes/packaging [they bubblewrap what they can't box, but it was industrial type wrap] as it is hard to dispose of here [you have to pay to use the domestic waste facilities & you pay by size of the load so Brittania taking your waste away would be handy!]

Sorry, I should have said "I found it very stressful, but Britannia were so efficient, organised & the guys were nice, which made it easier!

Astrophe, Anglo Pacific didn't answer our web response so DH phoned them. We got a pretty good quote from them so are planning on using them (although not actually shipping anything until the end of May).

Robinpud, we used 7 Seas coming back from Oz too. We only had a tea chest of stuff so there wasn't much to go wrong. Did you have big problems?

We used The Removal Group going to Norway, I doubt there is a more unprofessional service around. The consignement is lost.
My children has lost their toys, clothes, books, bikes everything, though I am hoping to have news tomorrow when bank holiday here is over. On the positive side, som mumsnetters wants to organize some toys sent over to my youngst whose birthday is in June.

We used anglo pacific and were very happy except they smashed a very expensive light when packing. Their guy phoned the office to report it. I was told to wait to claim until we arrived in case there was anything else to claim for which I did. When I then went to claim they required the broken item!!! When I stated the obvious - who brings a freeking broken light to the other side of the world but I could sent the glass shards (??SP) that were in my rug they weren't impressed and after at least 6 months of emails I gave up. They never paid out.

So word of warning if you use them (and apart from that they were good) if they break anything insist on claiming straight away or get something in writing to say they will pay in due course!

He will be 3 in June. My oldest was six in April, he lost all the presents he got at his party, unwrapped but still in boxes, as we agreed he should get to play with them when he got to Norway. I really hope it turns up.
