Hello
We need 3 quotes for moving our belongings from Berlin, Germany to Sydney, Aus. Which removalists do people recommend? Many thanks

hello, how much stuff are you bringing and are you paying for ti or is someone else. Just it is expensive so may be better to sell and start again. Just bring a few boxes of person stuff?
id just google it and see. unless soemone else has been there and done it of course!

we did not bring very much - in fact 3 large boxes of things we could not leave behind and what would fit in one suitcase each.

We used a company that did it door to door - you filled out the paperwork but they delivered boxes, you called them when you had them sorted, they picked up and then cleared them through customs and delivered them to my mum's.Will have to ask dh company's name - could have been excess baggage??

Wridgways are one I have seen used - removalist company that do international moves.

IF you are not paying for it - I would go the removalist company. If you are paying for it - possibly go that way - box up what you can't be without and then replace the rest - seems to work out less.

Eidsvold, that sounds like the sort of move dh has in mind! He wants to just take the minimum and buy new after the move. What did you find the essentials were? (The 3 boxes ones)

Wookecat, you can do an online quote thing on the Zapf website which could give you a guideline and they're based in Berlin.

some of dd1's stuffed toys, photos, some books, some clothes, some baby things ( as dd2 was on the way) some documentation that was safe to send, some house stuff. This was 4 years ago - so things are a bit vague. Some linen - especially stuff I had sent from Aus to the UK and was still using and was still attached to. My wedding dress, shoes.

I think it was excess baggage - did ask dh but he can't remember.

We were in a somewhat fortunate position as I already had a house that was a rental property and a few bits and pieces of furniture. We did still have to purchase a lot - really you can pick up very functional stuff for house for next to nothing - shops are always having sales. We just bought from KMart, Big W, Target - and got the basics and have been adding ever since.
