Just saw the long list of Brits living in the US... wondering if there are any American mums (moms) living here?
Me- from New York, married to a Brit, one DD, living in N.East for three years now!

There are some US moms here, km - look out for GloriainEleusis, paulaplumpbottom, expatinscotland and expatinengland; also kerrymum in Ireland. (And ComeOVeneer but she is Canadian)

And some of the people on the All those in the US are actually American. Are you in the UK or the US?

I'm American living about 90 miles from London..with DH who is also American (here for job transfer) and DD...going back to US later this year though...NHS is too scary...otherwise I love the UK for the most part.

It might be different if DH was a Brit, but we miss the good medical care in the US and also miss all the opportunities for girls in the US. (UK sexist we think with very limited choices for female sports...DD may end up hating sport, but at least will have that choice available.)

Other than health and opportunities for DD, we would probably stay longer. I also desire to go back to work at some point..have work permit in UK, but not close to major work centers.

I'm American too, from the New York area (raised in NJ but most recently lived in NYC) -- been here 11 years, married to a Brit who is from the Northeast but we live on the north Essex coast.

I live in Ireland (coming up on two years now)due to my DH's job transfer. I am from Los Angeles. I miss everything good and bad about home.

I'm American, from Ventura, Ca. I haved lived in Colchester. Essex for 2.5 years now I am obsessed with mn, but I don't post too often. After a very hard first year here I have settled in and I think I'd prefer to stay here rather than live in the US again. It reallly depends on where dh (british citizen) gets work after he finishes his PhD. We have a 14 month old son.

Me too! American, married to a Frenchman, living in London since 2002.

Miss some aspects of home, but am really happy here. Don't know yet if it will ever feel like home, though.

Me too - from New England and married to a Brit living in Kent for 4 years. Miss a lot from home, but very happy here too. And I can second that it will be a very long time before it feel s like home. I know I would have trouble with some stuff if we moved back (lack of organic/free range for a start that the UK is absolutely brilliant on).

Me! We've been living in London since early December 2007.

Enjoying our adventure here, but I do find the weather hard to bear. I'm from Texas, so I'm used to HOT weather and I miss the warm summers.

Agree with the pp that the organic groceries/food in general here is absolutely spectacular. It is one of the best things about living here. We're eating better than we ever have.

I am a New Englander (which part are you from Crace?), then lived in CA for 3 years before moving here 14 years ago. Dh is 1/2 french and 1/2 british and we live in London. I miss some bits of America, and definitely don't miss other bits.

I am from California and my husband is English. We lived in Spain until the first baby, then moved to the States to be near family. Now we spend most of our time in Dallas and are expecting our third baby.

I am constantly amazed at how the little things differ from country to country (even state to state). So anytime there is something that I hate about a place, it is balanced by something new that I love. Like the cafe con leche in Spain, or how Texans always wave hello and the English countryside.
