I-797 form and date of birth

Hi Everyone, we received DH's I-797 approval notice for his O-1 visa and have scheduled the Consulate appointment. We've heard that the date of birth on the I-797 must match the passport exactly. However, on the I-797 it's in US format so month then day, whereas on his passport it's day followed by the month. We are very anxious and I was wondering whether anyone could tell me what format the DOB should be on the I-797 - Google hasn't been able to help and I'm fretting!

If it's a British passport you're talking about the DOB is shown as 05JAN80, isn't it?

I'd assume this is fine. It's a Brit passport and a US form. Same date just different style.

When I was getting my Green Card, my passport, birth cert etc were all in the normal style (not Brit but European) and the forms were in US date style and there were no problems.
