Anyone remortgaged their UK house whilst an expat??

Hi,

Has anyone remortgaged their UK house whilst living abroad?

When we bought our UK house we got a loan for the deposit (joint one from house builder and bank), it was 5 years interest free. Our 5 years will be coming up next year and we would ideally like to be able to increase our mortgage to enable us pay off the loan in full. The house value has gone up a far amount in this time, approximately 50,000 - the loan is for a not too dissimilar amount.

Any advice on best way to do this as an expat? Any problems or things to avoid?
