It is freezing! Wooden house, no nsulation, no wood stove (apparently the roof needs replacing and the flue won't fit) but the heaters are workng hard.

Was 0.2'c at 6am. Frost everywhere too.

Far out... We are on sunny coast. An over night low of 3 degrees... Lovely high of 22 degrees. Wink
It's not bad during the day!
Not looking forward to tonight or getting up at 5 for work tomorrow let alone getting dd up at 5 for swim training Shock

We were in NZ earlier this month and as long as we didn't have to leave the hotel room, it was far warmer than here. The houses just are not built for 7 degrees or lower. We have good insulation but it is still cold!

Been blowing a gale for several days here in Melbourne. For weeks, though, no matter what the morning, we've had beautiful sunny afternoons.

We had a wood burner put in a few months ago, lovely. And now quite a lot of fallen wood to feed it. :o More to the point we had all the heating ducting replaced, as it was in tatters. Can't believe the difference: efficient and now quiet.

Oh cold it is but I am totally happy to be wearing for the first time in 3 years my knee high leather boots!

And another thing, though it looks completely counter-intuitive, the woodburner installation guys said we should run the ceiling fans on winter setting to push the warm air down.

Bugger me, it works!!

Bloody freezing in my Perth home. I have taken to bed at 9pm as our gas heater only heats the family room and the rest of the house is Baltic. It's like 25 years ago living in cheap student flatsShock
I know it's only for a few months, but really! Why are houses still being built with no insulation .

We will put ceiling insulation in when we re do the roof.. I know in qld we are lucky.. Maybe 5 or 6 really cold nights Wink. More of a problem are the 49 degree days and 30 degree nights.. But hey. I'm a pomme. I have to winge!

My family live up on the range, bloody freezing in winter. We once had a Swiss exchange student who said she'd never been so cold - we were in an old farmhouse on stumps and the wind just blew straight under the floorboards. When I was home from Uni I used to sleep on a mattress in front of the wood burner in winter.

I have real trouble persuading British people that it does actually get quite cold in Queensland.

DH told me about a friend who'd lived in Canada, yet had never spent as cold winters as in Canberra.

In diplomatic circles, a Canberra posting attracts hardship status.

I don't think this is insulation-related, though.:o
