My darling granddaughter has just had her 13th birthday. She has high functioning Autism and is super intelligent. She has no interest whatsoever in the usual teenage stuff and doesn't want to know or acknowledge the fact she is growing into a beautiful young lady. The only thing she is interested in is anything to do with Japan. As well as trying to learn the language via the internet, she reads about the culture, the food and the world of the Geisha. She spends hours pouring over any information she can find.
I'm wondering if some kind mumsnetter could possibly send her a postcard or something? I'm quite happy to reimburse someone for the postage. It would be a lovely surprise for her and give her so much pleasure.

Bumping this for you. There definitely is a Munsnetter in Japan, I've seen threads, but her name escapes me at the moment.

I wonder if you might have more luck asking in Chat - the traffic tends to be higher and you may have someone traveling to Japan for business or a holiday?

If not then do a search for expats in Japan. There are usually expat forums in most cities, and I'm sure if you found one people would respond to your request.

Good luck! Brew

Hello I am in Japan, not Japanese but married to a Japanese guy. Did you know the next Scouting jamboree is in Japan? (It is in summer which is the worst time to visit :) ). It is a very interesting place. Pm me the address and I will try and send it . ( don't worry about the postage)

I'm in Japan at the moment too. I'm happy to send her something if you give me her name and address.
