International schools / nurseries in kl

We're considering a move to kl, but i really have no idea where to start looking for schools / nurseries etc.

ds is 20m at the moment and is not the sort who copes well with changes in his routine and can't cope with crowds and bustling, so he would really be better in a place with small groups where there is more calm and stability for him.

Most of the schools websites seem to show large campus style schools, some with attached nurseries. Is this our only option?!

Anyone love / hate kl in comparison to uk life in terms of things to do with the kids? I won't be working initially and would like to do things like baby / toddler classes with ds and dd (currently 6w).... Have been so anxious about the possible move I haven't been able to sleep despite the dc sleeping well!! Help pls...

Hi Mell,

I'm in KL. My DC are way older than yours, so I don't have direct experience of the preschool expat scene, but there certainly is one!

Your DC are so very portable at the moment and will adapt to anywhere. You're not trying to break up their friendships or integrate them into school when they are halfway through GCSEs or any of that kind of thing.

It'll be a huge adjustment for you, but your DC will very probably take it in their stride.

KL has a big expat community. Loads of families with tiny children. Lots of indoor softplay areas, preschools etc. Most condos have play areas, toddler pools and indoor playrooms. I can think of at least one parent and toddler group. I'll pm you the details.

From my limited experience, I'd say you need to find somewhere to live and then look for schools/playgroups.
We live a bit further out. This week alone, I've seen adverts for four new International schools in our area alone. All are opening in September 2013.
Boom times.
