Hi everyone

I started having really heavy prolonged periods and passing blood clots in July, and since October have been feeling bloated, having abdomen and lower back pain, and also running the loo every 5 minutes at night ( I'm exhausted!) anyway the doctor sent me for an ultrasound and they discovered I have at least 3 large cysts, one on my ovary and one on my uterus, the biggest being the size of my entire hand!! I have been referred to a gynaecologist but I'm worried after doing some research that they will take a wait and see approach, and I just want them out!! I can't find any info on uterus cysts at all, surely I'm not the first to have one. I'm just wondering if anyone is or has been in the same situation and can offer me any advice. I'm so fed up of all the symptoms now it's really affecting my quality of life.
Thanks in advance
Dawn :)

Hi there. I had a cyst removed from my ovary three years ago. It was dangerous because of it's position so it was taken out pretty promptly. Why do you think they'll leave yours?
I understand only too well that you want it / them all out now. Generally, IME, if they think the little buggers may be dangerous in size, position or substance, out they go! Not much dilly dallying. I'm holding your hand.

I get polyps in my uterus which cause abnormal bleeding. These can (very rarely) be malignant, but mine have always been benign. It is a fairly easy surgical procedure to remove them (a d&c, just like an abortion).
These polyps are apparently pretty common.

I have also had simple (fluid filled) ovarian cysts from time to time which cause pain, but mine have always resolved on their own without treatment; these have no malignant potential. The only ones to worry about are the complex cysts, which are solid. But even those are not usually dangerous. My doctor says my cysts are related to ovulation.
I have had many gynecological problems since turning thirty or so... I used to be frightened by them, but it seems they always turn out to be more nuisance problems than truly dangerous.
