Help - osteoarthritis and coping with very hot humid weather

Hello! I'm a very new member of Mumsnet even though I've been following the discussions with great enjoyment for a long time.
I've noticed a lot of you suffer from osteoarthritis and wonder if you could give me any advice about coping in a very hot humid climate.
I'm going to see my son who is living and working in Singapore. I am on the waiting list for a knee replacement and my other knee and hips are beginning to give me great problems as well. This recent spate of hot weather has left me in agony despite painkillers and barely able to walk at times. I thought very cold damp weather exacerbated it, but it has been far worse in this heat.
I am worried that I am not going to be able to cope and will just be a liability to my husband and son, so much so that I am considering putting it off until the knee joint has been replaced.
