Rheumatologist told the physio it was definite but gp was query fm or HMS - 2 different letters same appointment. Whatever.

I have symptoms for both. But I guess the thing that's confusing me is pain threshold. Mine's always been quite high - and still is - it's the community that gets to me.

But I've just trodden on a bit of broken glass - am now sat with my fit under a tap to wash it clean - and it's nowhere near add painful as, for example, my neck.

Does that make sense? Is it possible to have fm and still be quite blase about the cuts and scrapes? I'm just a bit weirded out because I wouldn't have known it'd cut myself but for the blood, and yet my heel which remains unpunctured has been hurting for weeks...

Don't really know about fibromyalgia to be honest but I have inflammatory arthritis so I sympathise with you.
Can you get back in touch with your rheumatologist and confirm with him? Or do you have a specialist nurse who can advise you?

....oh and I have quite a high pain threshold but this arthritis is a whole different ball game! Cuts and scratches I would say are quick types of pains that you can basically grin and bear it. Pains from fibromyalgia etc I would assume (I know a few people with it) is constant and debilitating. They are not the same.

Fibromyalgia comes in two sorts. Rheumatic and non rheumatic.
I work in intensive care and my days of out patients clinics are a whole ago. I do still remember being told that fibromyalgia translate as " many aches/ pains" and is a label used to give patients a name for sore bits! Wink
So yes totally different to cutting a foot.
Rheumatic fibromyalgia is again different as you will test positive for RA.
