SIL diagnosed with anal cancer

My SIL had a colonoscopy due to blood in stools. She initially put it down to haemorrhoids but a biopsy revealed she has stage 1 anal cancer and is looking at intensive chemo and radiotherapy. Has anyone had any experience of this kind of cancer? How was the treatment? She lives in the US so I'm not on hand to help out but any tips on supporting from overseas would be appreciated.

Could you order a gift to be delivered like a voucher for a manicure or pedicure ? Write her letters as I think they are nicer to get than an email . Just fill them with ordinary stuff. Found out my dad has skin cancer today . It is treatable but still makes you feel helpless . This is why I am on this is thread looking if anyone else had any positive experiences and saw you were unanswered .Thanks

www.analcancerfoundation.org has operations in both the UK and the US and has support resources and lots of information about anal cancer. Hope that can be of use to your SIL
